I've sent my mother on a mission to find glass bottles. I figured as an anti-plastics crusader who has thrown out every bit of plastic in her kitchen, this would be a good project for her. I imagine being in Canada she'll have a bunch of US brands to choose from. Anyone bought any lately that they thought were really awesome or had the chance to compare options up close? I can see a few online but it really doesn't tell me much.
Glass bottle preferences
I haven't used any of the bottles I'm about to mention, but I'm in Canada too so I can speak from that perspective. The glass bottles I see around most are Dr. Brown's and Evenflo. However, while browsing this site the other day (Canadian), I discovered Born Free has a glass bottle and I know the Born Free bottles are popular. http://www.safetysuperstore.com/product/16418/5_oz_wide_neck_glass_bottles/?category=113#.UEiMT5Z2OSo
I just used the bottles that came with my Medela breast pump because DD really wasn't bottle fed very often or for very long and she took them okay. They weren't great though! Since I need to get a new bottle or two anyway, I think I'll get something nicer and the Born Free line appeals to me.
I have the Evenflo glass bottles because a local environmental store was having a moving sale and I got them $1 each. As a first timer, I can't really let you know how they work out until after you've probably already had your baby, but they did get really good reviews. That said, I've also bought a bunch of really good nipples that I plan to swap out with the ones they came with.
I have a friend who is 38 weeks and also took part in the sale, so I can let you know what she has to say about them.
