Seeking support/advice/encouragement

Hi there

I am about 33 weeks pregnant and had an unassisted pregnancy so far.

I want an unassisted childbirth.

It's hard to find anybody who understands my choice or who could give me advice and encouragement and at this point I would like to have some. Anyone out there?

It's my first baby, haven't had any problems with the pregnancy so far.

I live in the woods, no electricity, no hot water and about 45 minutes from the hospital. Should I worry? Should I be closer to an hospital?

What have you done so far to prepare?  What are your plans for back-up if needed?

Neonatal resuciation class for you and your partner. Find back up care you are comfortable with. Come up with a contingency plan that will work for you. Magical thinking doesn't create a good birth so be prepared. Good luck. Remember that your gut speaks loud and clear and when your not listening it starts to yell. Much hugs!

I agree that neonatal resuscitation classes are always a good bet, the American Heart Association sells a manual infant resuscitation aid inxpensively http://shop.aha.channing-bete.com/onlinestore/storeitem.html?iid=173341

Have you purchased birthing supplies yet? If not you may want to consider doing so as there is often a bit of delay getting the items through shipping (unless you pay for expedited) In His Hands and Cascade are both good sources for inexpensive birthing kits. For me, not having hot water would be a bit of a thing as I like being able to labor in water at the elast, and have given birth in water as well, and I wouldn't really want to not have that option available to me...as for the electricity thing, that again is all about your level of comfort; do you have good light sources from elsewhere? Because it is quite possible you may need good lighting after the babe is born to check things out if ykim. As for the distance, generally the rule of thumb that I adhere to is that 30 minutes is really on the outside limits of distance from a hospital, but again, that is just my level of comfort...presently I live 15...10 in a hurry. Ultimately mama, how you decide to birth your babe is YOUR choice :) !!! I hope that you have an amazing birth!!
