catholic schools in Massachusetts and exemption question??

Any parents with kids in massachusetts catholic schools ever run into problems with the school not accepting the religious exemption? i have read conflicting stories and we would like kid s to go to a catholic school next year. i read somewhere you had to meet with a priest from the church...is this true?? just want to be prepared for anything the school confronts us with.
