Maternity Jeans??? - Page 2

I haven't found good maternity jeans; I'm a size 18-20, mostly due to hips/butt.

I do like Gap's maternity pants (I bought a bunch of them during my last pregnancy and dug them out for this one), but I haven't tried their jeans.  Just a simple black flare-leg pant that I wear for work, gardening, whatever.

I also got into yoga pants with my last pregnancy.  Looking for another comfy pair for this one.  I was going to try Old Navy..We'll see.  I can't stand the quality of Motherhood's pants, but it seems like when you're plus size the fit might be worse.  Their "regular" sizes look like they might be better made.

Good luck!

I actually found a pair that stay up.  I don't love them, but they stay up.  They are a size SMALLER than I normally wear.  I'm usually a 16/18 (or XL) in pants- mostly because my thighs don't fit into what fits around my hips.  I found these jeans at a thrift store- they are a size 14!  I don't know if it's because the person before me stretched them out or because sizing is horribly inconsistent.  Either way, I'm glad I at least have one pair that don't fall down when I take two steps.  I think I'm sticking to leggings/slacks/yoga pants the rest of the time.  I'm a social worker so I have to look semi-professional, but I think I can probably get away with what I've got.

As far as the "doll" look for pregnant women- I recently read an article about how there are certain female celebrities who dress like that and it's rubbing off on the rest of us.  Don't get me wrong- I love the leggins/tights under a cute dress/skirt look, but I could do without all the polk-a-dots and bows.  I guess you've gotta rock whatever makes you happy!

i can't do leggings, they make my legs look awful. never have worn them except in a dressing room. blech.

the maternity jeans that i have and love are motherhood maternity jeans. i tried on about 9 pairs of their jeans at macy's until i figured out that i'm a petite. the tummy part didn't stay up in the other jeans or regular sizes, but the petite size do. i'm normally a 4 in women's, and a petite small was too tight to be comfortable, but the petite medium is perfect, though a little on the short side in length, comes right to my ankles.

i got a pair of black dress pants and grey slacks from motherhood with the secret belly thing and they are great. they are smalls.

Interesting. In Asia I think it comes from the Kawaii culture in Japan where there's more of an indy trend of doing almost a vintage doll costume. It's very over-the-top and theatrical and I always like to try to spot them in groups going for tea.

I love looking at pics of Kawaii culture. Japanese fashion in general is so interesting.

Saw this dress on the Target website today-- http://www.target.com/p/merona-maternity-long-sleeve-cowl-neck-sweater-dress-assorted-colors/-/A-14102118#?lnk=sc_qi_detailbutton

It looks so warm and cozy. I'm going to order one and if it fits, I'll order another. I would LIVE in these this winter.

Typebug, check out thrift stores for a wool coat. I found mine, one very similar to what you posted, for $8 I think and it has held up great. There always seems to be an abundance of wool coats at the thrift stores I've been to.

If I lived somewhere with thrift stores and seasons this would be my first stop. ;) Le sigh. Have to order winter clothes online and ship them here.

I bought a pair of maternity jeans at Thyme  around 8-10 weeks because I was so bloated nothing was comfortable.  I'm wearing them today again for the second time (after a hot summer we finally have a cool day!) at 18 weeks and they are still very comfortable.  They are quite fitted but very stretchy and the band so far is comfortable and they do not fall down.   I will have to see how they work as I get bigger though.  I may need to go up a size when I get really big.  I think Thyme is a Canadian chain though, so not sure if you can get them in the US.
