"When we come close to those things that break us down, we touch those things that also break us open." - Wayne Muller
We are pleased to announce the birth of our third and final baby tonight at 7:43 pm after a less than four hour active labour which followed days of prodromal contractions. He was born in the birth pool in his brother's room into his sister's waiting loving hands. The cord was cut by his big brother after it stopped pulsating.
He weighs in at 9 lbs. He is 51 cm long with a head circumference of 37.3 cm. He remains nameless as per family tradition.
Thank you so much to my husband xxxxxxx midwives Xxxxxxx and Xxxxxxx, Xxxxxx and to Xxxxxx for hearing me cry more times in the last 40 weeks 5 days than I would care to admit.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for him and sent positive thoughts our way throughout this difficult pregnancy. He is, indeed, healthy!!!!
We had the same photographer who did our last birth, so am expecting some great pictures.
Prenatally, we had many tests and ultrasounds due to serious suspected abnormalities. He is fine. He nurses extremely well and my milk came in at 30 hrs.
It was a great, but extremely intense birth in more ways than one. My midwife knows me well as it was my third birth with her so she was extremely hands off. I did all the cervix checking, ruptured my own membranes, pushed back my anterior lip, and supported my own perineum while i pushed out the head. My six year old then jumped in the pool and the midwife helped her recieve her baby brother. My four year old cut the cord when it was time.
My last two labours were long and trying. This time was so fast and furious that I was very nearly overwhelmed by it, but now, a few days later i feel so good.
