Visit to In-laws

So come Thanksgiving time we will be visiting my in-laws at their house. There will be two children there, my DD (who will be 20 months at the time of visit) and her female cousin who is 7 weeks younger than DD. The girls have only met one other time and are very interested in other children so I am expecting them to play and intereract with one another.

So the problem is, when DD gets into a situation like that, she has a hard time stopping her play and using the potty (or giving any sort of cue). Most of the other times DD has been in this situation, the playing has been done outside or at my house so I'm not as worried about an "accident" happening. Actually, I'm never worried about it, but I know my in-laws will be since it will be at their house and on their white carpet. In addition they have always been a little skeptical that EC actually "works".

Well, needless to say, I'm a little nervous about the visit. Any suggestions? Or has anyone else been in the same situation? If so, how did you handle it?

How many days will you be there? If it were me, I'd either use a pull up for a few days and make lots of trips to the potty in hopes that she never actually peed in it or make sure she empties after drinking. I see nothing wrong with saying , "come see mama for just a minute" and taking her to the bathroom every 30 minutes during play. With DD, she would always willingly come with me after the first time when she knew that I was going to pee. I would pee, and then she would pee.

We used those old-school pull on diaper covers (Gerber?) over undies or training pants when we were going into situations where an accident is predictable and a bigger deal than at home. They're a little balloon-y but never bothered my kids much.

Thanks for the ideas. I was kinda thinking something like that too. I have some training pants she wears sometimes for "just in case" but those leak sometimes. Maybe I will put a cover over them or add an extra liner or something.
