Hey ladies!
8 month old ds3 started on some bits of solids not too long ago (just pieces of food cut up small, mostly soft stuff). He loves it and does really well. I have no hurry to start him on solids, but he likes it and asks for it and has two older brothers who he wants to imitate.
The small amount of solids he actually eats are enough to make his poop solid "big kid" poop now. And it seems that he doesn't like to poop in his diaper now.
When he poops I only find very small amounts in his diaper. At first I thought, well....he's not eating that much so maybe that's just normal for him. But I was concerned and watching him with it.
Then the other day I was changing his diaper and it just happened to be at a time when he had an urge to go. Since his diaper was off and he was laying on his back he proceeded to happily poop out about a foot of poop.
So, that proved to me that he has more in there, but just doesn't like to go when he has his diaper up or is sitting down on his tush (well, who would?).
I know that I have the EC (elimination communication) option and have tried that with other babies without much success. I've tried rushing to get his diaper off when I think he's trying to go (or trying not to) but it hasn't worked at all. I've tried sitting him on the little potty, but nothing has happened with that.
I'm nervous about constipation and poop issues b/c my ds1 had issues with constipation for over 4 years and it was very hard on our family and him.
Any ideas? How can I get this kid to poop?
He still nurses lots during the day and night.
TIA!
