Weaning toddler from SNS, anyone?

Hi, has anyone done this?  LO is 20m, we only use SNS at naptime and bedtime.  I don't have much milk left and his latch is not great but he will comfort (?) nurse at other times.  I talked to a lactation consultant and we thought the only way to do it was cold turkey really (with lots of warning, explaining etc).  Has anyone done it any other ways?  I thought of just stopping bedtime, and he could have a bottle and then nurse without the SNS, and keep it at naptimes because he actually falls asleep nursing at naptimes.

When I have tried not using it he's gone around to where it would be and asked me to put it on!  :)

I am just tired of using it and get irritated using it at bedtime.  Overnight he has a bottle because it did not matter how good my supply was he would not nurse without the SNS.  I went onto the bottle overnight when he was one year old.  He has cows milk in the bottle (yeah, not great I know but it's a miracle he's bf at all, won't go into the whole back story!).

Thank you x

I don't have any advice but wow on using the SNS for 20 months!  That's incredible and wonderful.  What a commitment.  Hope he'll wean off of it smoothly!

I wonder if you could puncture the tubing or something so it doesn't work or leaks or something... That way you can put it on, try using it and truthfully say it's broken and get rid of it. 20 months may be too young to understand this but you could try it later on. I'm sorry but I don't have any other ideas. It's wonderful that you've nursed so long even with needing an SNS.
