No vaccines in the UK are mandatory - they're just recommended and available free on the NHS. We don't even have to file exemptions if we do not want our children vaccinated for something. It's a very different system to the one most of you are used to.

Maybe not right this moment, but it's being considered...but what i don't get is why they referenced to  the DPT, instead of DTaP

The UK Health Authorities are considering making vaccinations compulsory for newborns, vaccinating them with the DPT at birth due to the whooping cough outbreaks in the UK.

No they're not considering it. The original article that was posted (from vaxtruth.com) has got it wrong. Here's a BBC article of the same story:

They're considering offering it to babies (and if they make that decision will encourage parents to give it to their babies), but that's not the same as mandatory and note:

The Department of Health said any decision to expand the vaccination programme would not be taken lightly.

It really sounded like it's early days in the discussion, but they're concerned in the UK over increasing numbers of very young babies getting this disease (and we all know it can be very serious and scary in very young babies).

Do you honestly think that British parents are going to be given the whole truth about the vaccine? If mothers were told it could shut down a baby's immune system (pertussis toxin shuts down the neutrophils) would they do it? The fear-based propaganda program will be in high gear if this goes ahead. Frankly I think it is evil, how many babies will be killed and maimed by this?

We all know why young babies are getting whooping cough, the vaccine doesn't work as advertised.
