You guys with your nice feedback, now I've gone and entered those photos into the Pregnancy Photo Contest thingy.  They kind of stick out amongst all the pretty photos!  Did anyone else enter that?  I just really want that baby hammock thing!

I entered too (3 photos)...I figure with three babies on the way, I might as well try it. smile.gif

You all look so great! It is incredible to see the growth!

jess--I love the huge balloons! I have seen a lot of maternity pics with balloons in them but none that big (and I love that you used a blue and a green rather than two blue)--super cute!

jess/quinalla--How does it work with twins? Are you expected to make it to 40 weeks or is it closer to around 37? I am now measuring around 45 weeks and wonder how much more my uterus can take!

IIRC, the average gestation for twins (all twins included, so I think for di/di it is probably a little longer because of less early births for problems) is 36 weeks. It depends on the care provider, I know some start to get nervous with twins after 38 or 39 weeks. I'm not expecting to go to 40 weeks, but I also don't plan to rush things early without good reason if I am going longer than 38 to 39 weeks. 36 weeks is considered term for twins too, one week earlier than 37 weeks for a singleton.

yeah I guess I have no experience otherwise so I don't know! I had to go to triage this morning and both nurses at the desk had twins - one it was her first kids and the other it was her 2nd and 3rd. She said it was harder with the 2nd and 3rd because then she had expectations of how being pregnant that obviously weren't the same.

heck yeah, if you have a chance to win the hammock, why not?! Who knows, it would be cool if someone from our group won!

haha go big or go home :P I love giant balloons and any reason to buy them. I ended up reusing them for our baby shower, too. We had a party this summer with four of them and I re-used them for a work summer bbq the next week. They last quite a while!

I can't believe you are measuring 45 weeks! Are you on bed rest? I am measuring approx 37 weeks. My doc says he expects me to make it to 36/37 weeks, which is about average for twins. I am a twin and my mom had us at 38 weeks due to induction. From what I understand, there is research (that I have no read or studied) that twin placentas aren't as useful after 38 weeks, so it's pretty common to induce around then. My doctor's office does it that way, and it's been discussed at our twins class as pretty standard.

Yeah, mine says they induce at 38 weeks. I haven't asked if they hold off if everything is going perfectly, or if they prefer to go for it. I'm not expecting to get that far, but I guess I should figure out the answer so I'm prepared!

Yeah, I think the research shows slightly better outcomes for 38 (or 39 weeks depending on the research being referenced) for twins than 40+ weeks and it is really is very slight. /shrug to me it seemed no different than docs that push for inductions for women with singletons that go past 40 or 41 weeks just because of dates, it is so slight vs. risks of induction it did not seem to make sense to me, but everyone has to decide their own risks vs. rewards! Anyway, sorry for the derail everyone, but its nice to talk about it and it really is going to be weird being so pregnant (for me) for the rest of the time! I can't imagine getting bigger, but I know I will.
