Here's an interesting article about 3 ideal first foods.  http://www.holistickid.com/3-first-foods-that-your-baby-needs/

yes, growth spurt! We've used egg yolk as a first food, and is messy but good. And I like giving avocado as a first food , too.

Hi all, I've also been a stranger after returning to work.

Not sure if this would work for your family Rozzie, but we added in a dream feed midway through the night after I went back to work. This way, my daughter and I get some extra bonding time and she gets more calories from the source which reduces my concerns about her not eating much during the day (usually just 8-10 oz total) and also lowers my pumping burden at work. So she eats at 9 pm, goes to sleep, dream feed at 1 or 2 am, wakes at 5 for another full feeding after which I get ready for work, get her up at 6:30 for some mommy play time, feed her again at 7:15 and she falls back asleep by 7:30 and I get to work by 8.

Well, maybe its a growth spurt or maybe he is needing more mama time after a long day or maybe he is just hungry ... but Kai seems to be implementing the "dream feed" all on his own - went from WEEKS of 11-12 hour night sleep to waking and nursing - and i did introduce some solids last week too!!

I have no idea what is going on. I feel like he is having some sort of spurt - maybe developmental growth rather than physical growth. I dont know. "this too shall pass" is my mantra.
