Pregnancy and Breastfeeding - Page 2

I am still nursing our 27 month old, 11 weeks prego right now, kind of feeling like the end is near though. At the start of this pregnancy, he was nursing 3-4 times a day. Now he is down to 1-2, or even not at all. I have always thought that I would be tandem nursing with my DS, but am also ready (sort of) for his self weaning. Yesterday was the first whole day that he has gone without nursing (I also came down with food poisoning/terrible morning sickness in the evening so was out of commission). This morning I had this fleeting feeling of, "oh gosh, do I remember the last time he nursed well enough, there wasn't anything 'special' about the moment..... that can't be the last time he ever nurses." Then 5 mins later he was asking for milk, so I guess my plan is to let him lead me through this process.
About the subject of infantilizing- I have definitely had some cultural stereotype like pressures to stop nursing. To solve that, I stopped pumping at work so that it wasn't "known" that I was still nursing. I am totally comfortable with nursing my bubs until HE is the one to decide that he's done. And he is a well nourished, sweet natured, giving and just plain happy boy. Keep on doing what YOU feel is best for your family! Hugs to all you nursing prego mamas out there xxxx

I wonder if I've got the youngest nursling here!  My son is only a year, so we've got no intentions of intentionally weaning any time soon, and I intend to tandem if all goes well.  I'm a little nervous about the fact that it really seems that most women see their milk dry up at some point during the pregnancy.  My guy is eating solids, of course, but he is still probably getting the majority of his nutrition from my milk.  I'm offering solid food as much as possible, but he's just not hugely interested in it in much quantity.  Anyone have any advice on that?  Anyone remember their one year old's favorite nutritious foods?  I'm always looking for inspiring ideas on what to offer.  He's got 8 teeth at this point, and no food sensitivities that we can tell.

So far (I'm only 8 weeks), we've had no problems.  Supply seems nice and strong and it's not causing me any discomfort, so I'm hoping that will remain true.

nice to have a little community of fellow nursers!

I think yours is the youngest HannahJ.

My DS was never a picky eater, but some things were definitely favorites at that age (his and mine to give him!)  Avocado being a great one, and hummus too.  I did (and still do) fruit smoothies as sometimes when they're busy it's easiest to get healthy calories into them via liquids as opposed to solids.  Nut butters are also good, and scrambled eggs with cheese were always a good fall back as well.
