Cloth diapers from the start..

I'm looking to cloth diaper this babe right from the get-go... I have an insanely large stash of one size pockets and AIO's, but while I birth big babies, their little legs have always been too small for proper fits for close to 1-2 months old...

That being said, I'm looking at prefolds or fitteds for the itsy bitsy stage.. does anyone have a recommendation of how many I should get? How many covers? I have my own W&D, and plan to do laundry once a day.

Do you want to dry on the dryer or on a line? Prefolds dry slowly!

I'd go for 24 but if you wash every day you might be able to get by with 12-15.

I like bummis whisper wraps for the little ones.  I think 3-5 is enough and 12 - 24 nappies, I like flats because they dry quickly on the line - April is Autumn here so AIOs won't dry without a dryer which I try to avoid.

I also EC so we often use far fewer nappies and last time only needed a flat cut in half for absorbency since it never held more than one wee.

I really want to use cloth diapers from start to finish with this baby too... But I know absolutely NOTHING about it yet!

We have used cloth exclusively from the start with DS (15 mo), and we just discontinued our diaper service subscription yesterday! I can't say enough about how great the service was when he was a newborn- a steady supply of as many clean prefolds as we needed when he was going through a ton and the last thing I wanted was more laundry smile.gif

We'll definitely use the service again with the new baby, at least for the first several months.

We used a service for DD2 also and LOVED it, unfortunetly, they didn't deliver where we lived with DD3.

My 9# baby only fit into the "newborn" size prefolds for a few weeks, so you might want to get the next size up. I would personally buy at least 24 so that you don't *have* to wash every day.

I just sold ALL our cloth diapers in July! Used them for all three kids (last 2 ec'd though so it wasn't as long with them). I can't believe I sold them! I haven't figured out what I will do just yet. I just can't believe I actually sold them!

Dry in the dryer... I live in Alaska lol. It's still very possible it will be winter here in April.

I'm thinking 24 prefolds, but how many covers? We're on a tight budget all around, so I don't want to buy a ton.. I was thinking 5-6?

Awww! I gave away ALL of DS baby clothes 6 months ago.... stupid, stupid, stupid choice haha! The lady I sold them to was even like "You're going to get pregnant now that you're getting rid of the important stuff."
