Lanolin--I finally caved and got some, and it works like a charm! It actually says it can be used during pregnancy as well as breastfeeding. I got the Lansinoh brand at Target. I had some mad chafing going on.
2nd trimester symptoms/complaints thread - Page 4
So glad to hear all these symptoms! I mean really, if one more person tells me 2nd tri is just so wonderful and glowy I may just puke. Literally, as I still have occasional "sickness" (i refuse to call it morning!)
To add to the list:
constipation--pregnant w/ twins and between that and the calcium supplements there is not enough fiber in the world to help. I eat quite a bit of fiber--I counted 40 grams in a typical day--but the constant-pation is unbelievable. My doctor suggested stool softener but even it at max dose does not help.
hip pain while sleeping--yes. A couple nights ago I took an epsom salt bath about an hour before bed, then did lots of hip circles and pigeon yoga pose, and that all seemed to help. Some nights I'm just too dang tired for all of that!
nipple chafing--lanolin has solved that issue, but it was driving me nuts.
My feet are starting to be sore all the time, and I don't even have to stand up at work.
shortness of breath--in the anatomy scan yesterday the sonographer informed me my uterus is pushing up against my diaphragm so apparently the shortness of breath is here to stay. What sucks is I can't even walk for exercise anymore, because I get so short of breath, sweaty and heart pounding, plus feeling like I'm going to throw up. So it's just swimming/pilates/yoga from here on out.
Oh it feels good to vent.
Found out yesterday I'm having two boys! So now I have something more concrete to look forward to--halfway there!
Thanks for sharing! It's great to be able to vent with other mamas. Hubby is supportive and encouraging but...
The hip pain is crazy bad this week. In addition to my prenatal yoga, I've been trying new stretches and need to look into a new pillow system for sleeping. My back is starting to ache, too. I've never been to a chiropractor, should I look into now?
I've definitely noticed the shortness of breath. I was in good shape before the pregnancy, but light hikes and even flights of stairs are getting me. I am a nanny and I have also noticed it when reading books to the kids.
My appetite is HUGE. Pre-pregnancy, I had a relatively small appetite, but now I am hungry all the time. The weight gain is making me nervous, but I'm trying to focus on the baby and eating healthy. I've already gained 25 lbs but I know stressing about it won't help.
The round ligament pains are annoying. And sometimes my stomach muscles ache, almost like a pulled muscle, when I've been on my feet too long. Dancing at my sister's bachelorette party until 2am might have been pushing it.
Good news -my acne has finally started to ease up a bit. Just it time for my sister's wedding in two weeks. I am a bridesmaid who is hoping the dress fits!
I was the maid of honor at my sister's wedding this summer when I was about 13 weeks along. I had already ordered my dress before getting pregnant and THANK GOD it fit and that I chose a style that was fitted at the bust, but loose around the belly.
I've actually had a pretty good week as far as symptoms go. I feel so sorry for you mamas with hip and/or back pain. Mine usually doesn't kick in til the third trimester.
Choco Mom, just lucky, I guess. :)
I am with you there. Much less on the vomiting, but still randomly sick and way grossed out by most food.
My weight is still fluctuating 10-15 pounds below where I started.
Back and hips are still do-able, but I have a chest cold now. I am going to try an onion poultice tonight if I can tolerate the smell.
Ah well, at least I'm beginning to feel the fetus move and that is thrilling! It makes me so happy and reminds me why all this is worthwhile-- because I do forget.
Me too! This past week I have been feeling baby starting to move around in there and it's weird and amazing at the same time!
Symptom wise I am doing pretty good, just occasional hip/back pain. Last night I had some ligament pain/pulling when I went for a walk but it only lasted for about half the walk and then it subsided.
oh you know it. it's pretty unavoidable at this point, but my fiance is used to it. and he used to be the stinky one...
Me too. How depressing! Every week or two now I get a big slug or hormones. Morning sickness comes back, I get a migraine that lasts for days on end and every inch of my face suddenly breaks out again. After 3-4 days it recedes again and I go back to "normal" and then I get another round some time later. I'm back to carrying my seasick bag in my purse and bag of candied ginger. Coming up to week 20 on sunday. [sigh]
oh on the itching!!! i had that last pregnancy! horrible.
so last night i had real sympathy for all the moms who have had morning sickness as some little bug that's been wandering around got me. from 1:30-4 i was up and losing it from both ends! and the BH were incredible as all my body seemed to be spazzing out. this morning, woke up feeling tired, but like the entire escapade had been a horrible nightmare. i finally calmed it all down by laying in a warm tub until i was falling asleep. no water, no fluids, and thankfully no one woke up. my husband charmingly was a little dozy this morning and his morning meeting was canceled so he made breakfast and i got to lay in bed til 9.
on to homeschooling, farm walking, and finally now up to eating.
i hate vomiting so very much! especially if there's a bucket involved. thankfully there was a clean metal trash can sitting in my bathroom!!! and baby has been jamming throughout. whew.
i had a week or so of INTENSE itchyness a couple weeks ago that has thankfully went away. i just tried to put lotion/oils on the itchy areas to try and help. no clue if it did. haha.
my nipples are pretty consistently sore, it sucks.
also, this morning i threw up for the first time again in awhile. i'm 23 weeks tomorrow, what gives!?!?
You poor thing. I hope you're feeling better! I had a stomach bug earlier this week and also spent a night in pain. Luckily mine just came out the bottom end. The cramps were so bad I had moments of panic thinking I was in really early labor. Being sick on top of being pregnant just isn't fair. I had a wretched stomach bug when I was 8 months along with DS2 and I thought I was dying so at least this one wasn't as bad.
I get itchy bellies with all of my babies. I exfoliate like crazy and moisturize but it doesn't seem to matter!
isn't the pain terrifying when you're so focused on keeping someone IN there! between the stomach cramps up top from the vomiting, and the abdominal cramps down low from the bowels, i was just glad baby was moving a lot. helped convince me that the little one was okay, it was just not fun for me. i don't know if i've ever had anything too much later on in pregnancy.... but that would be sooooo miserable.
that said, i made it through the morning on fluids, and after the little ones went down for nap, fried up a bunch of spicy chicken wings and ate a huge share. the kids ate the few i saved for them, but i managed to pack away just over 2lbs of wings..... and that was a few hours ago and no negative consequences. so i think i'm all better.
but man, all those mama's who still throw up at all- I'M SORRY. it is not cool.
anyone got the math on 2lbs of wings? think i made the protein quota today.
Hope all of you poor puking mamas get some relief soon!!
