Anyone having restless nights? I have been soooooo tired, but unable to fall asleep! It's been so annoying. We've been on a crazy schedule here since my husband started working a midnight shift and I started staying up later so I can hang out with him before he goes to work, well, now I've messed myself up so much that I can't fall asleep. When I get the rare change to take a nap, I just lay there. At night, I just lay there! Ugh! I have two other little ones and trying to keep up with them during the day has been rough. I was looking into some teas that might help me get a goodnight sleep, but want to make sure they are safe for pregnancy. So far, the only thing I have found is the Peaceful Mama tea from Earth Mama Angel Baby. Has anyone tried this? Does it work? If any of you mama's have any suggestions for me I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!

I have to take melatonin to fall asleep within a reasonable amount of time even when not pg--and haven't discontinued it in pregnancy. I have read that it isn't recommended for pregnant women, but the risks are suspected, not proven, and in such insanely high doses that I wouldn't come close to it anyway. I take a sublingual 5mg (it was 3mg, but that didn't do enough for me in pgcy) *as my head hits the pillow* each night. I also take an amino acid--phosphatidylserine--that's supposed to help your brain relax (it inhibits cortisol production) and lets you stay asleep instead of waking repeatedly during the night. (I can't have chamomile, and generally dislike teas anyway. It's all I can do to choke down my RRL a couple times a week, really.) :P

purplemamaturtle, I was wide awake last night. I could not fall asleep for anything. I ate a small piece of chocolate cake (no frosting) before bed, and I usually don't have any caffeine at all, so I'm wondering if it was that little bit of caffeine in the chocolate. I laid in bed and read for a while, then I got up and checked email until I finally started to feel tired, then DH was snoring, lol. I couldn't win.

tropicana, I don't have quite the appetite that you do right now, but I was looking at the pizza you ate and wondered if it gave you heartburn, lol.

I am SO happy to read this thread! I have had 3 very restless last nights in a row (woke up at 3am last night and was wide awake) and I am exhausted. I assumed it had something to do with the transition to third trimester, and am relieved to hear it's not just me!

Last night I was finally able to get some sleep! Woo Hoo! I am hoping this lasts. On a different note, my 2.5 year old has been having a heck of a time with his naps which has been making it hard on me and my husband who needs to sleep during the day. Oh well, such is life... shrug.gif
