orangemomma, that is a great idea to get out holiday stuff early. I really want to feel on top of things (I am already overwhelmed that September is about to be over) and just said to my husband the other day, I really feel like this is the year that our traditions are starting. I have honestly slacked on doing fun, memorable things for the holiday season the last few years because there was just one reason after another not to put forth any effort (have a newborn; have to move; have no money; pregnant; kids are too young; working FT). I feel like now I have finally embraced the fact that making memories doesn't have to cost a lot of money. I want to plan ahead this year and budget for the things I know we care about so that we can focus on what is important to us - making costumes, making decorations, holiday meals, a tree, making crafts with the kids, cute but inexpensive gifts for family and friends.
I am still on track with my no-spending! I trimmed out $100 from my regular bi-weekly budget on Friday and put it towards our emergency fund.
