Weekly Chat - September 17-23 - Page 3post #41 of 3189/17/12 at 5:05pmMissE, if you aren't sure about the CO, try a fleet saline enema first. Its less systemic. yes..it will make ya go but less whole-body. IF you do try it, I put it in an icecream soothie. It worked and my water broke w/in an hr but...I was "at" 42 weeks. I had my first day as a SAHM. Utter failure..kindergartenering disaster case. Seriously. I was "that" mom in the mall w/ the screaming kid. All b/c of a flippin' elevator button. 1 hr of screaming on and off in the mall. I was crying by the end.post #42 of 3189/17/12 at 5:49pm
MissE, another thing I know a lot of mamas have had really good luck with recently is using a Lemon Verbena cocktail. Apparently, the Lemon Verbena really reduces the digestive effects of the CO. Here's a blog post that has a recipe that I think is pretty much what the people I've talked to have used: http://www.littlequiver.com/2009/07/elousia-story.htmlpost #43 of 3189/17/12 at 5:54pmLol dmpkmom. That sounds familiar.
I took the co this morning but chickened out on the whole 2oz. Still had a cleansing effect and i got some nice contractions out of it, followed by mucous. So i guess it did something after all. My mom got all excited and i feel like i let her down BUT ... it'll just take a few days longer. My goal is to talk my ob into inducing on friday morning by AROM if my blood pressure is too high again at the appointment. Friday would make it easier for all of us and it would give me two extra days. So we'll see.
If my blood pressure is fine i'll try to at least hold on until monday for any kind of induction (preferrably AROM).post #44 of 3189/17/12 at 6:01pmpost #45 of 3189/17/12 at 6:17pmQuote:
Have you looked into a foley bulb induction? AROM would automatically start the 24hr clock, the foley bulb would dilate you to 3-4 at least, and then you could maybe do AROm after that, since more cervical progress may have been made. Making the most of "the clock", I guess.
AFM- I'm a little bit apprehensive about my midwife appointment tomorrow morning. Not sure why. I guess I don't want to discuss the possibility of RCS with her. It's a zero possibility unless something goes wrong. It is scheduled for this Saturday.
I am, however, getting my membranes stripped again. I want to do Castor Oil again, like I did last week (failed, obviously, lol). I'm kind of wondering.. maybe I should take it tonight. That way I'd likely have some pretty good contractions tomorrow while she does the sweep (CO always gives me ctx, but my cervix hasn't been ready).
Idk... I'm kind of sleepy, but I guess I could just sleep immediately after taking it and wait until the "effects" wake me up. Hm.post #46 of 3189/17/12 at 7:33pmI had my cervix checkef last time. I was dilated to a 3. I had really good experience with arom when dd was born. I was admitted for induction when i was 6cm with her and it was a quick and easy birth. We'll see on wednesday what the appointment brings.
Wcm: good luck tomorrow. I sure hope you don't have to have a rcs.post #47 of 3189/17/12 at 7:39pmpost #48 of 3189/17/12 at 7:44pmThread Starter
I have a midwife visit tomorrow as well. She called up today and said she would be down in Wyoming and meeting with a new client that lives just 30 miles north, so she might as well swing down by here and visit :) I know there's really no reason for a VE and it wont' necessarily tell me anything definite or mean anything, but it will at least give me an idea of what my cervix is doing and whether any sorts of natural inductions look like they might work out favorably. Of course, I'd rather have no visit tomorrow and simply go into labor tonight ;) We'll see. Stranger things have happened? During my accupuncture today I did have some contractions while laying on the table.
I'm hoping this is my last picture. With a belly-full-of-baby, that is....
I think 9-18 makes for a good birthday. I am a super nerd with number things, and something about doubling the first number to get the second just makes me nearly squeal. So yeah. Tomorrow! ;) Or at least sometime soon! Come on, baby! I'm so excited to learn whether you're Leo, or Clementine, or Willa, or Penelope, or Della, or who knows!post #49 of 3189/17/12 at 8:07pm
EDD today - Happy due date to me!! I had some regular cntx tonight at my Bible study (love the "YOU're STILL HERE?!?!" comments btw) but I think they have since puttered out, I didn't get my hopes up anyway. I had a friend who was due tomorrow who had her baby today so maybe will switch EDDs?? I can dream.
Anya - I slept like a rock when i was pregnant with ds. I would seriously get off work at 4pm, go home, nap for like 3 or 4 hours wake up and eat and then go back to sleep. I was EXHAUSTED. I may have had insomnia once or twice but that was it. I have been sleeping ok this time as well but DS has gone through some rough patches so he has kept me up. In the last week he started sleeping through the night and I haven't known what to do with myself! I guess that's when the insomnia thought it would visit me...
Ascher - Your MW sounds great! That's neat that she said you don't need epo now. last pg my mw did a VE and I was dilated to 4 cm but 0% effaced and so she told me to get on EPO and a couple of other things to do... I just kinda had a pleasant look on my face but I knew I would efface when I was ready. The next week I was at 50% w/o any EPO. Unless you are on a clock, it really will not do much of anything unless your body is ready, in which case, things would happen regardless of what you do.
Judy - I am still sending labor vibes your way!! Hope something happens!
Sorry to the mamas having so much prelabor! That just sounds awful!post #50 of 3189/17/12 at 8:09pmQuote:Originally Posted by judybean

9/18 is a great bday! DS's is 9/10/11 and I LOVE it! I thought it would be so cool to have a 10/11/12 baby also but I am ready for him to come out so hopefully I will have a September baby!post #51 of 3189/17/12 at 9:06pmThread StarterQuote:
9/10/11 is so awesome!!! I'd be game for 10/11/12... but... NO WAY!!!! I refuse to gestate THAT long ;) LOL!post #52 of 3189/17/12 at 9:26pm
MissE- Ahh, that totally makes sense. It's crazy to think that women walk around dilated to 3, even to 6 (!!!) without active labor. My cervix doesn't like to open until showtime, unfortunately.
Judy- Yeah, 10/11/12 would be really neat. However, I don't want to gestate to 44 weeks. Ohhh no.
I decided to try CO one last time. I have four days to give birth before I lose my midwifery care. This is my last resort to try and birth before then. If she doesn't come now, she's coming eventually... I just really want a care provider, just in case. And once again, I can actually use a laxative. Fiber, probiotics, hydration.. nothing helps my sluggish digestive system during late pregnancy. Baby is pressing on a painful nerve and when my bowels are full and not moving it is soo much worse.post #53 of 3189/17/12 at 9:36pmQuote:
hahaha this is me too! my first daughter was born 8-12-09 and my birthday is 2-21-90 and i thought that was the coolest thing ever because we are six months apart (on opposite sides of the year) and out days and years are flipped..idk no one i explain it to gets it but i think its cool...
WCM: im thinking of you sending you labor vibes!!!!
AFM: i get to pick my mommy up my mommy from the airport tomorrow!!! im so excited! i only get to see her maybe once or twice a year and i miss her terribley! also with my mommy here i can finally relax and tell green bean she is free to come when she's ready ^_^!!!post #54 of 3189/17/12 at 9:44pm
Thanks SMM! Hopefully with your mom at home you'll be able to get the peace you need to birth! And hey, you're only a few months older than me. I don't feel as alone in my young motherhood anymore, lol!
That CO was nasty. I didn't measure it this time, just used half of the 4oz bottle to take 2oz. Well, I may have taken closer to 3. Ohmy goodness the nausea- that has never happened before! I'll trade no labor for the nausea to stop.. I have a major phobia of vomiting- yuck!
Judy, you look gorgeous! Here's to hoping that it's your last belly pic! Come on out little one!post #55 of 3189/17/12 at 9:53pmThread StarterMore nerdy numbers: dd1s birthday is 3-14-02. I just like that 01234 are in there and a 3-3 (of 2004), and a 12-24 (see! A number-doubling!)... oh gosh, and dd4 is 3-6 (of 2010). Wow. A couple doubles and somehow I never fully thought about that!
WCM-- when you phrase it as four days left it's freaky! Because I also have until Saturday to birth under the care of my midwife. I might just be staring some castor oil in the face soon as well. And, I happen to be a non-dilator-until-real-labor person as well. My cervix doesn't usually move forward until the very, very end either.post #56 of 3189/17/12 at 10:05pmpost #57 of 3189/17/12 at 10:19pm
Haha! This is so funny. Do you know how many people have looked at me strangely when I even mention the idea of a "good" birthday date?! Ha!!! I would LOVE to have my boy on his actual EDD 9.27. It's actually been my favourite number for as long as I can remember. Seriously... every other 3rd grader would call their lucky numbers as "three!" or "seven!"... but I was always the geeky kid that said "Nine twenty-seven!" like the time or something... So weird. But it's stuck.
That, or I'd be okay with 10/7 (41+4, for me, which is actually likely)... but only because my birthday is 04/07(/91- I'm a young one too SMM and WCM ha) and we would share half birthdays which is kind of exciting. And then 10/11/12 will be my 42 week deadline, so at least it would be one positive thing about getting induced. Ho hum. We're not there yet... we're not there yet. (;post #58 of 3189/17/12 at 10:52pm
lol YAY! other young mamas! it really doesnt help that on a bad day i look like im about 16... i always get "oh is this your first???" with a big smile and then i go "no my second" oh still kinda smilling..."well my second bio, my fiance has a little girl who is 6 months to the day younger then mine"......the face turns to one of those akward trying to remain pleasant but obviously much less pleased look "ohhhh heh well thats exciting..." yep thats right everyone 22 years old and we'll have three little girls 3 and under...i realize it sounds insane but i wish people wouldnt jump on the judgement wagon so much of the time....
so i am now sitting here...when i really should be running around getting all my last minute cleaning ready....being lazy instead...i feel like the more i have to get done the more exhausted i become...i also feel too guilty to sleep because i know my mom is up at home paniced and still packing..she has been working like crazy up until today and has not gotten any of her things ready to come trying to send her some reiki and hoping she can somehow get through and not be compeletly shot for her flight at like 6am tomorrow.....
also ouch lol i seem to have pinched some weird nerve in my hip that is making pain surge through my hip and tail bone and down my leg and making me limp when i walk around...i dont know how i managed to do it but i sure hope it resolves itself over night...
blather blather.....ok going to try to go get SOMETHING done now...post #59 of 3189/17/12 at 11:13pm
The look of shock on peoples faces when they hear this is my third is priceless.
So uh, I'm having a lot of painful contractions. I've been resting, hydrating, still contracting. Not sure how often, but they're strong and they hurt. I'm going to try and sleep a little and see if they peter out or not. If so, it's fine. Baby is bouncing off the walls in there *I think* trying to get into a good position... but ouch!post #60 of 3189/18/12 at 12:45am
Sorry if things are worded weird, this is being typed through breaks during hard contractions...
Tried to sleep while timing contractions, they were about 4 mins apart, then 3, then 2.5, then I fell asleep (half asleep) for 20 minutes. Got hit with a really hard one and I ran to the bathroom after it peaked because I thought I had to poop Didn't have to poop, but every contraction makes me want to. I stayed in the shower for about half an hour on my hands and knees- took some of the pressure off of my lower back. I'm still contracting though.
Here's the kicker- I think I may be leaking amniotic fluid. I checked my cervix before getting into the shower and quickly pulled my hand away because it was soaking wet (wetness dripping to my wrist) and I don't want anything in there if my membranes have ruptured. Blotted the area with a paper towel a few times after I got out of the shower and it seems like my vaginal fluid or whatever it is is slightly slimy clear stuff. I touched it, it's not oily so I don't think it's residual EPO. I'm not sure. I'm kind of scared I'll finally fall asleep and my water will break all over the place.
What exactly is the consistency of amniotic fluid?
