Well this isn't exactly newborn baby gear, but I'm going to get this one at some point.

I really hated our last high chair, whatever the cheapest thing I could find at the time was, which was tall, had a really broad base (stubbed toes every time we walked by it), had a padded insert that made it harder to clean etc.

The one I linked can be put right on a regular chair or just right on the floor. We don't even have a table and chairs (just no room for it, we eat on the couch and kids have a small table) so this will be perfect for us to just sit on the floor with baby and eat together.

I have that exact booster/high chair! (the fisher price one) I have used it for my last 2 babies from the time they started solids and my 2 yr old still uses it..

I have used it on the floor but older babies do occasionally tip them over backwards.. .. i've also had a young toddler get up and walk around still strapped in to this chair when it was on the floor.. just a heads up ;)
