Tetanus only option for yr old

Dr Bob -

Is there any option for just a tetanus vaccine/shot for a 7 yr old?  He is unvaxxed with a LOT of autism in husband's side of family. He also has MTHFR and possible ADD.  However, his scalp met the corner of a filing cabinet this weekend, and it got me thinking.  His ped feels that it is a low risk for tetanus and gave us the option of a Tdap but she wasn't too concerned (if he had an injury with metal outside - other story).  I turned down the Tdap b/c our whole family had pertussis just this summer.  What are my options in case he had any other accidents?

Also if we did a Tdap and he's unvaxed, would he need 1 or 3?

There IS a tetanus-only vaccine for kids ages 7 and older.  I wouldn't bother with getting the doses preventatively (a 3-shot series). You could just wait until (and IF) he has a high-risk injury.
