Wow!! What a beautiful baby! I'm so glad things seem to be progressing well with Devereaux and that you are healthy and strong. Good luck with the pumping, please post more pics of your sweet boy when you get a chance!
It's a Virgo! - Page 2
I forgot to ask for an updated length of stay estimate when I talked with the neonatologist today, but my semi-educated guess would put it at the 2-3 week time frame, based on how well he's doing.
I got to hold him again today, this time for a full hour as he's now on room air. He just snuggled right in and slept the whole time, with the occasional little squeal and squeak escaping.
He's so cute. Congratulations - big wishes that he heals and grows quickly and that your little man is joining you at home as soon as possible. With my first, I had to leave her at the hospital for about a week at nights and it was so hard. Big hugs and lots of support over the next few weeks - keep us posted!!
Pics from yesterday...
He's off the bili light as of today, and his IV will be discontinued tomorrow morning. If his bili levels are normal in the morning, he can stay off the light, and be moved out of the isolette and into a regular bassinet/crib bed thing. He also got to wear his first outfit tonight. They have a full stock of clothes there and I picked out a little onesie that says "Mommy's Little Monkey". Perfect for my little man.
I'm a big fan of unique, but not unheard of,names. When it came to picking out names for our baby, I knew I wanted something different. The only family connection are the initials, which were my late FILs. We decided a few years ago to use initials of loved ones lost for our kid(s).
It took us forever to come up with a 'D' name that we both liked. We went through a few different ones that we would like for a while, but just wouldn't stick. Devereaux came about from a book I was reading at the time, in which it was one of the main character's names. The more I saw the name in print in the book, the more it started to really stand out. I thought it over for a couple of days and then mentioned it to hubby. After he thought about it for a few days himself, we decided that it was THE name.
... then we started the hunt for the middle name, lol. That one simply came from an online database of baby names. I went through the 'G' names until I found one that I felt fit with Devereaux. Bonux that it's really close to FILs middle name. Baby = Garrett, FIL = Garrison
So sweet! I've (still) been having pc problems, so I'm trying to slowly catch up.
When was his due date? The 10th?
The pictures are SO precious! Glad you're both doing well! Are you doing any Kangaroo Care with him? I just finished that book and it was really good and I'd like "real time" feedback from people who are really using it.
Congratulations on your little Miracle Baby!
We are absolutely doing kangaroo care with him. The only time I held him with either us dressed (well, me from the waist up) was yesterday, and that was just because my dad was going to arriving shortly. Every other time it's been skin-to-skin. He's always so peaceful when I'm holding him. Then again, he's proving to be a very quiet baby so far.
Yes, his original due date was the 10th.
