Participants needed for Breastfeeding Workshop at AAP New Orleans, Oct 21 & 23

Hello! 

I am one of two pediatricians/IBCLCs running two Breastfeeding “Interactive Group Forums” (a.k.a.Workshops!) for pediatricians at the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Conference & Exhibition, to be held at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, October 20-23, 2012.  I have successfully recruited families from mothering.com for the last 4 years in DC, Boston, San Francisco & Atlanta.

Dr. Joan Meek, author of "New Mother's Guide to Breastfeeding" and I will be hosting the New Orleans workshops.

In brief, the 90 minute sessions are usually ~50-60 physicians (mostly pediatricians), we lead the session and cover BF basics, have our guest moms share some of their BF stories, and take questions from the audience. We would love for moms to be comfortable allowing their infants to breastfeed, to allow a brief view at a latch if attendees desire.

We reimburse parking, attendance is available at the convention to any general open sessions that day, and we provide a $50 honoraria.

The sessions are as follows:

~I2123: Sunday, October 21st 4:00-5:30 PM: "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Breastfeeding" (Basic Breastfeeding Clinical Support Skills Workshop) designed for practicing pediatricians.  We are looking for 2 families: ideally a relatively young baby (<1month), and a 2-6 month old.

~I4082: Tuesday, October 23rd from 2:00-3:30 PM: "You, Too, Can Be A Breastfeeding Guru!"  (Advanced Breastfeeding Clinical Skills Workshop.  Ideally, for this session we would like some challenges: moms with supply issues (under or over supply), latch issues, low tone, or prolonged pumping due to prematurity or prolonged hospitalization.

This is the 12th year the interactive breastfeeding workshops have been part of the AAP NCE.  Each year we have been invited back, as the sessions are well attended and enjoyed by all.  Joan and I love to include moms & babies (and dads & siblings....), please join us!
