Today I shampooed the entire house of carpet, washed and cleaned my regular vacuum (filter and all other parts), did all our regular housework, shined the sink, scrubbed the children's desks, am finishing up all the laundry...and it's only 8:30.  Taking a break to do some online stuff while I drink some RRL tea, then I'll sweep and mop the kitchen, prepare school for tomorrow, and get in at least 30 exercise minutes.

Dang, 1baby'smom, that's inspiring!

I'm cleaning the bathroom right now.  It's SOOOO gross in there.  Just taking a break while trying to unclog a slow drain in the bathroom sink. Think I'll have a cup of tea too.

It's funny because we didn't get home from my parents house to start all of this until 3p.m., and all I wanted to do on the drive home was get back and take a nap. LOL  Obviously THAT didn't work out.

My bathroom is gross too, I really need to attack it at some point.  Guess I'm not quite THAT motivated.  Ha!

We have finally started getting things cleaned out in prep for little baby things smile.gif (well I say "we" generously lol I'm on bed rest so I sit and "supervise" while my DH does everything lol Friday night we got out whole closet cleaned out and sent a bunch of clothes for donation, packed away our summer clothes and made room in our master closet for little baby things smile.gif and yesterday we cleaned out our spare room and closet and got organized! It feels good to be making room for baby. Our plan is too work on the bathrooms today and tomorrow and then next weekend tackle the kichten cabinets and living room closet, and DH will do the basement at some point in there too. The day after Christmas he is going to go to our storage room and get all our baby things!!!! EKKKK so excited to wash N out away little Girly things smile.gif

Now that we know we're having a BOY, I feel like I can finally get started on sorting and purging all the little girl cloths that we've accumulated! I probably wont start until after xmas though just since it's so hectic already and buying and wrapping gifts has been taking up all of my spare time lol.

I've been feeling very driven to keep things clean/picked up in here since the cleaning ladies came. It will be a long time before we have them come back, but I love having my house so nice. I've been haranguing the rest of the family to make sure they actually pick up after themselves. I don't want it getting that messy again.

I've been trolling Kijiji (like Craig's List) for lots of baby boy clothes at good prices. I got one box for $25, but about half of it was stuff that totally isn't our style. So I'm re-listing those items. Still a way better deal than buying new though.

We've been re-arranging a lot of things too...selling old furniture that wasn't working for us and using the money + Christmas money to buy new-to-us replacements. We're especially trying to re-do the bedroom since it's tiny (DD has the big bedroom, since she has so many toys/books/etc. and there's no play room or anything like that). Since we've got to fit Teddy in there with us, we need it as organized as possible. There's no room for a crib even (we've got a little sleeper thing that goes in the bed, between DH and myself that we kept from when DD was a baby). And we'll probably move before we transition Theo to a crib anyhow...so not really an issue. And we're keeping our eyes peeled for a white 2x4 Ikea Expedit on Kijiji to use in place of the ugly dresser we've got in there. It will also serve as a changing table. With DD we used a set of drawers with a changing mat affixed to the top, but now those drawers are in our kitchen because there's not enough cabinet space. Otherwise I'd just use that again.

And I convinced DP to move the keyboard downstairs to BIL's family room, since that's where he uses it anyhow, to jam with his brother. That leaves us some extra space in our family room for either a pack n' play, or another Ikea 2x4 shelf (if we can find good prices on them). We are actually looking for four of them: one for the bedroom, one to replace our big black 4x4 in the family room (which we use as a TV stand, but it's too tall and doesn't match anything else in the room), another for under the window to use on it's side as storage and seating (I'll sew a cushion for the top), and one more for the opposite side of the room to replace the old sideboard thing we're currently using and more storage. The Expedit shelves are pretty awesome/versatile. And they're not a bad price new, we just need to save as much as we can so we can spend the money elsewhere on other things that are higher priority for us.

I've not sewn anything in a while, been too busy. But I still have a lot or projects on my list. I'm waiting on one of them until we buy the car seat though (since it needs to be made to fit the seat). I'm hoping there will be a good sale on Boxing Day, and I'll brave the crowds to buy the seat then. I also am trying to start planning things out. I was doing some research and discovered a service in our city that lets you rent a set of newborn cloth diapers for about 2-3 weeks for just $25 bucks. You have to provide a deposit for the value of the diapers, but it gets refunded if you don't decide to keep them. Plus you get a free box of liners, some Rockin' Green detergent, and a free wet bag (to keep). So that sounds perfect! We have all the dipes we need for later, but I really can't see the Bum Genius 3.0s fitting a newborn properly. And $25 is a bargain. You can even extend the rental period for another 2 weeks for $15, in case your baby hasn't grown into the next size. We were just planning on doing disposables for the newborn period...but I'm pretty sure we'd spend more than $25 on them, even just for a few weeks. Plus this way I get some free detergent and stuff (and I love Rockin' Green).

I'm also taking much better care of myself this pregnancy, though I'm not sure that counts as nesting. I'm making sure I get exercise, eat well, pamper myself, etc. I don't want to feel like an ugly blob when this baby is born. I hid from the camera too much when DD was tiny.

Today, I scrubbed down my bathroom walls. It was soooo needed.  I can see the house becoming just a little cleaner.  Hopefully by April...

Yesterday DH spent almost all day taking apart the old cabinet corner desk, moving my sewing desk upstairs to replace his computer desk, shifting furniture around in the family room, etc. It's still messy in the family room (but we're going to finish up tonight so the house is clean for Christmas Eve). Now the family room feels MUCH bigger. I love the new layout. We're hoping to replace some other furniture in here too, but we'll have to do it slowly (waiting for the particular IKEA shelves we want to get listed on Kijiji to save some money).

I made fudge last night, which I think was a combination of nostalgia/nesting drive (my mom used to make it every year), and pregnancy craving. Still need to bake cookies though, or we won't have any to leave for Santa!

Today I need to catch up on laundry (clean, but not put away yet), and dishes (also clean, but not put away). I really want everything nice for the holiday, especially so it doesn't look awful in pictures on Christmas morning. I even got DP to wrap a big empty box (with the top left open), so any wrapping trash can go in that, instead of an ugly black trash bag, and won't ruin photo backgrounds. I made some re-usable, fabric gift bags this year, but not enough for all the presents. So we will definitely have wrapping trash again this year. I'm hoping to, over the next few years, make enough fabric bags that the only paper-wrapped presents will be things from other people, or things being given to people outside our immediate family. Granted, I'm sure there will always be a few things that need to be wrapped because of their shape/size, but every little bit helps right. I don't do everything I ought to for the environment, but I'd like to do more where I can. Gotta protect it for our babies. :)

I've also been nesting like crazy. Todoay I sorted a HUGE basket of socks and (gasp) put some in the give-away bag and THREW OUT some singles! I've also organized cabinets and set up files that I haven't touched since we moved in (7+ yrs ago). A few weeks ago we got some shelves from Ikea and sorted games, toys, and books.

turning my only child's playroom into a room for her new sister/brother, even though i know damn well this new baby isn't going to use this room much for a year or so... ha!

today i bought a rug for the room from a young local artist, who makes her sole income selling her handmade goods: www.etsy.com/shop/sockmonster

i moved my old sewing cabinet into the room to use as a changing table and dresser that looks like this: http://oldwoodmarket.com/zencart/images/gl1406a.jpg  but i painted it flat black.

swept out the junk, got a huge ficus tree for the room from someone who was throwing it in the dump.

many kicks going on, many pounds adding on to my ass, but i am slowly moving forward to readiness.  bring it on.

YES. Me me me!!! I just got back from buying a bunch of organizational whatnot so that I can finally get my shit in order. I am normally SUCH a messy, disorganized person that I have to take full advantage of the nesting urge as soon as it hits! I'm so super glad to finally be feeling well enough to clean things. I've been so sick and exhausted this pregnancy! I still get tired pretty fast, but I'm hoping that if I can just get everything in its place and get a workable system going by April, it'll make things that much easier when the baby is here.

Also feeling super crafty. Hopefully I can get my sewing stuff organized soon and get working on some diaper covers! :D

I think it's starting for me. However, I have to wait till tax time to get the $$$ for my daughters crib, car seat etc... My room is driving me nuts and nothing I can do about it. I also share a room with my 6 yr old. So there will be 3 to a room.

The furniture we were waiting for got listed cheap on Kijiji, so we're all set! DH picked everything up and assembled it. We just need to pick up some baskets for the shelves (which we'll probably do after our old furniture sells). I've been slowly trying to reorganize things with the new pieces. I want my clean family room back! Everything is so cluttered right now with the big rearrange! I'm also trying to get Christmas decorations put away, but we added a few items this year (like a DIY ornament wreath) that won't fit in our trunk of decorations. So I'm going to have to ask DP to help me figure out how to make everything fit in storage. He's much better at playing "Tetris" with boxes and such than I am.

I got to schedule all the rest of my free cleanings. I've got one p/month for Jan/Feb then two p/month for March, April, and May. We might even get one extra free cleaning (since our place is on the small side compared to the houses they usually clean). So I may save that for when/if we move out next year.

It's a challenge trying to plan how we're going to fit a family of four in this place (and on a tight budget)...but I think I can make it work until Teddy gets to the crawling stage. Then we may have issues. Of course I'm just hoping DP gets into the medical school 20 minutes from my parent's place and we end up moving to Ohio before Theo is ready to crawl.

I was concerned about the same thing except a family of six.  We are going to have the two youngest room together (a boy and a girl) until Maabelle is in a regular bed. At which point she will move in with her sisters and sleep in a trundle which will be stored under their bunk beds. Our floor plan is pretty open which I think will help as well.  One day we dream of an addition on the house but there are days (and weeks and months) where I'm not sure I want to live here forever.

Today I took all the sheets, pillow cases and towels out of the linen closet. I refolded them and put them back.

I'm starting to get there.. I decided at 3am to pull out our w&d and clean under it(which was NASTY btw..), and I have plans to clean behind the stove soon... I wish I could get behind the fridge, but it's stuck in there(the space in our condo where it was put in has under a finger width of room on the sides of the fridge and wall, so it's not coming out..), I organized the heck out of the kids toys, etc.

I'm mostly in "baby buying" mode.. I bought the baby's NB diapers, bassinet, and am picking up pieces of clothes here and there.

I spent a bunch of time today planning 30 days of breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinners for after the baby is born. There's still much to plan (exactly how much of which ingredients to get, what can be prepped a month in advance and what will have to be done weekly, etc.).

DH and I finished putting away all the xmas decor except one mini tree that's still in DD's room. Usually we wait until New Year's Day to put away the tree and stuff, but I wanted it done before DP has to go back to work.

I also vacuumed the couch and my glider, then I put our slipcover on our couch so it will match our room a bit better. The only problem is that it almost exactly matches the wall color (which I hate, but we're renting and don't know how long we'll stay here). I may paint just the one little wall the couch is in front of, so there's at least some contrast. And when I say "I'll paint" what I really mean is "I'll make DH paint it." lol  It's seriously a tiny wall though, exactly the width of the couch.
