Weird Dreams? « Back to Group Discussions

I thought it might be fun to have a thread for people to share weird, ridiculous, or otherwise vivid dreams that seem to come with the pregnancy territory. 

I've had several already but I'll share mine from last night:

- I am waiting on an appointment with my midwife, who I have not met yet.  It is 3am, and I think that the midwife is ridiculously late for the appointment, but I really want this midwife so I am not going to complain.  Suddenly, my mom shows up with a big group of people she thinks should get to come to my appointment (one of my dad's best friends, my grandparents, I can't remember who else) and I have to tell her that no, they don't all get to be there.  FINALLY the midwife shoes up with his student.  The midwife (I can't remember the proper term for a male midwife) is very eccentric and I have to make him guacamole  .  The student, who is also male, just happens to be a guy I was accquantances with in high school, who I haven't seen since Grad, and who is now in real life a tattoo artist!  Suddenly the appointment is done and the midwife has left some cryptic message about my pregnancy and what to do before my next appointment,which DH and I try to decifer, which includes a really specific list of grains I am to have and in what amounts and quantities.

Anyone else have any to share?

Oh boy, I've been dreaming! This has been the most fun "symptom" of pregnancy for me. There have been two or three that I only vaguely remember. In one, I was trying to give birth but I couldn't lean left because there was a head in my way so I kept leaning right and (slowly) spun in a circle. I then saw in a mirror I was a banana. So not being able to curve left made sense.

There have been a couple of dreams about my mother, one where she redecorated my kitchen (with disgusting things, then we fought,), the other where she lit things on fire (I am blessedly estranged from her for the time being. There's been abuse, if I can help it she'll not meet my children.)

I also dreamed I was at a campfire and forgot to bring the marshmallows, then the campfire got awkward.

I have been having extremely vivid dreams nearly every night. Last night I dreamt that I learned I had brain tumors (this was after the subway terrorism part of the dream) and I was talking to my doc (who was my previous real-life therapist) and saying, "Let me teach-back to see if I understand the risks, benefits, and implications of doing nothing." Practicing shared decision making I guess???

Oh dreams are fun!  Especially pregnancy dreams.

I was wanting whipped cream yesterday evening and last night I dreamed about working at Starbucks (which is not totally uncommon because I worked there for 3 years) and everyone making canister after canister of whipped cream.  I kept squirting it out onto my finger and eating it.  Later in the dream I was suddenly the supervisor but I couldn't remember my partner numbers to log into the computers.

It was a bit stressful when I couldn't close the store properly but at least I go the whipped cream I wanted!

The night before I had a dream about yelling at my mom in a thrift store.  It was sort of funny because my mom is cheap, not frugal, cheap and shopping with her is painful.  She can't even look at a nice piece of clothing and appreciate it for what it is without gawking at the price and commenting.  So freaking out at her in a thrift store over a comment she made about high prices was sort of fitting.

Guacamole!  That was pretty hilarious.

My dreams are mostly unremembered.  At least now they are, they will get more vivid soon though, they always do.  I did have a dream about 3 months ago (in the throes of infertility) that I was holding a blond, curly haired 18 month old.  It was a bit weird but I woke up knowing I would get my baby boy at some point.  So maybe this is the one.

I did mention on a different thread that last night I dreamt I was very ill, as in morning sickness nausea.  I have never dreamed of being ill during pregnancy, and as far as I know, I have never been ill in the middle of the night. I woke up and did not feel well.  I did have dark chocolate last night with tea, and sugar does not sit well with me these days...

I'm loving reading about these dreams!

Unfortunately, my vivid pregnancy dreams are all SCARY. Like last night, I dreamed that we sold something on Craigslist, and the guy we sold to came back and broke into the house, and I was trying to get away from him so I could call 911.

I'm ready for some guacamole dreams.

my dreams have been very vivid, since I was around 5 weeks, all i've had is sexual dreams  last night involved kissing nicolas cage, a young nicolas cage, in a hot tub. Hah, I have this suspicion I may have a little testosterone in my body coming from my uterus  I didn't get like this until my 3rd trimester w/ DD.

I had um, the HOTTEST dream last night that I was sleeping with Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. DH and I just finished watching that series for the first time, so it makes sense that Spike would be on my mind, but I thought that was hilarious.

Also, in my dream, my real-life best friend offered to stay in the next room with a shovel in case anything went wrong with Spike

Great idea for a thread!  I forgot how vivid pregnancy dreams can be.  I've had a few weird one so far, but the only one I can still remember involved discovering one of our cats wasn't deceased but was still hanging out in our basement (that's where the cat food is, ha) - was such a happy dream!  Till I half woke up and realized she'd been gone for 3 years and it really wasn't feasible, and that realization woke me fully.  Aww.  Miss that kitty girl! :)

Lucky ladies with the racy dreams!  I haven't had any of those yet.  Uh and I love young Nic Cage.  :)

One of my favorites so far: I found myself at a zoo and quickly realized that all the habitats, aquariums, etc. were empty, and that in my hands was a map of all the exhibits with different animal stickers on them.  When I finally turned around, I saw that hundreds of animals were following me!  So one by one, I had to direct them to their homes.  I'm still trying to figure out how the whales and such were following me around , lol.

I have been having very weird non-sexual dreams.  So boring, so weird.  And what's worse is I can't remember them.

I'll have to live vicariously since hot dreams are much more pleasant....

I have been dreaming up a storm. Multiple times per day I'll see an item or be reminded of a person in real life and realize they made cameos in my dreams. Some highlights:

- dreamt I found a diva cup, like, roadside, and was all excited to pick it up and take it home with me for a spare (um, EW)

- my brother had gone rogue/evil

- my mother had gone rogue/evil

- someone I know very casually but kind of dislike had died (guilty conscience)

- dreamt that we gave the baby a particular name (a family name I really would consider - a sign??)

I had so many sexual dreams with DS during my last pregnancy. Basically anyone I had ever met in my entire life was fair game... it was kind of unsettling at times LOL.

So far this time, I've only had one strange dream, and I don't remember most of it. We had a brand new little girl (that looked about 6 months old). I gave birth to her in a shopping mall, and then wasn't allowed to take her home for some reason that wasn't entirely clear.

I guess I am tired of ms/food aversions/not eating.  Last night I dreamed of food, food and food.

First, DH and I went on a drive and ended up at a little drive in where we had bacon cheeseburgers with a smoked paprika sauce. 

Then we were at another restaurant with crock after crack of wonder soup.

Then, there was the party that Ina Garten threw.  The upstairs cocktail hour was lovely with wine and simple appetizers, mostly fruit and cheese. 

Then there was dinner for which Ina made salad and wonderful homemade pizzas, special coffees, cakes, slab pies, cookies and more cheeses with herbs and delicate crackers.  I was so excited to eat but after only some of the people had gotten their food she began quickly wrapping up all the food and putting it away.  I had a plate of cheese and crackers with some slab pie to try but got up to get a drink, when I came back my plate was gone.  I asked Ina if I could have a piece of pizza and she begrudgingly gave me the smallest slice of pepperoni claiming that "there just weren't very many leftovers for her to eat."

Oh how I do miss food.

I tend to have pretty realistic dreams all the time, but they seem even more vivid while pregnant. The weirdest so far was a dream where I met Drew Brees (quarterback for the Saints and was actually the quarterback for Purdue while I was there, not that I ever met him) at some kind of alumni party. It was very vivid with every detail spelled out, but besides meeting him, it was fairly ordinary. That's usually how it goes, vivid but ordinary I've had some sexy dreams too, but only with vague dream people, nobody real. Once the fatigue goes away, I'm sure I'll be as horny as last pregnancy. I already am now, just fatigue usually wins.

Oh CoBabyMaker, I don't know whether to giggle or frown about your dreams!  I hope that you get to enjoy real food very soon.

CoBabyMaker, those dreams sound GREAT, although the Ina Garten one sounds like it ended up being frustrating!!  I have been having dreams about drinking beer?!  I like beer, but am not a huge beer drinker normally, so not sure what that's about.  Beer does sound really good lately though, so maybe my body is lacking some minerals that are found in beer.  I will have to buy more non-alcoholic and see if that does the trick. Erdinger actually makes a pretty darn good one and I found it at a liquor store near my place.

Oh, and the sex dreams have officially started.  I had two last night! Yehaw!

I finally am having dreams I remember, which are all very strange, but at the moment, I can't remember anything.  I even woke DH up one morning to tell him about the first dream I could recall.  After I told him, I fell asleep again, and dreamed about telling you guys about it.  LOL, but now I can't remember it, ROFL.
