Day, I was totally wondering how to spell wah wuhh and u just enlightened me! It's a skill I keep for years to come!

Short hair cuts-- I'm so jealous and pics PlEASE!!!

Althea, we havent had any sibling issues like you've described and I sure hope they resolve soon. As for food we did banana, oatmeal, avocado, in that order (and for no particular reason other than that's what I had on hand) and then in whatever order we did carrots, peas, plums, pears, sweet potato, applesauce, and I think I'm forgetting some but that's the bulk of our list.

AFM-- still working like crazy and trying to enjoy my babes. They really are so precious to me. I've finally figured a few things out, like cook extra large meals on the weekends and eat left overs during the week, pack lunches for the week on Sunday, let someone else do the grocery shopping, etc. dh is working almost 80 hrs a week, so I'm trying to enjoy being on my own. I am taking Pilates classes, which are wonderful for my sanity. Dh and I have decided to commit to law school once again, and we are excited for what the future has in store for us.

Hope u ladies are all well !

Anyone catch this new show on PBS? Call the Midwife. I thought it was really good. About midwives in London's east end in the 1950's.

yes, one of the moms from my earlier ddc's posted the link, that was one of the books I read during my postpartum period.  Book was so good, the show is good too and I can't wait for the next one, but I was annoyed that they opened with conchita because she happened later in the book.

Chiro- you totally blow my mind, it's just amazing how busy and how much you have going on.

aletheia- we have had various troubles with adjustment, lots of extra time for that kid goes a long way. as for the wanting to be his big brother maybe start showing examples of how all big brothers are different. If there is more than 1 sibling in your fmaily talk about how his uncles/aunts are different from each other and that is okay.

Dayle- sorry about the period but hey lots of sleep rocks.

food- i started Coraline on food, jarred foods and I feel a bit like a drug pusher. my last 2 kids never had jarred foods, but i was also totally fine with being with them ALL THE TIME! With Coraline  I plan on going to school and I want to not have to pump a lot, especially since I have this weird thing with my milk were even when I freeze it it comes out of the freezer smelling and tasting off, so I am supposed to scald it before I freeze it and what a PIA.

Halloween- has anyone thought of it yet? My kids want Cora to be a chicken, I'm thinking not because the costume is too big. I am organizing a halloween costume lending library so maybe i'll see something there.

I'll have to check that show out, it sounds good!

Chiro, ah pilates sounds awesome. I've been meaning to start yoga again but can't find the time.

Dayle, yeah that sucks. I've had mine back since 2 months when Wulfie slept through the night twice. I wish it would go away agin since I'm not getting the extra sleep anymore!

Thursday- I've been doing some jarred food too. Mostly I've been mixing it in with avocado. I'm trying to figure when to start him on mixed things, like just giving him soft bits of what we're eating. He will steal things off of our plates like green pepper slices or pieces of apples. He seems to want more than what he's really ready for, ya know?

We are closing on our house on Tuesday which I'm really excited for. My fil just up and decided that he wants to buy all of his kids a house ( he can afford to) so I guess we get a free house. I am over the moon about it, but he also has a history of using gifts to hold over our heads later. Worrying about that though makes me feel ungrateful.

My job is awesome and they really like me, but I can't seem to pump enough to be working three days a week. It's also been hard to be away from both kids. We'll see how it goes after our move, but I'm thinking about asking them if they would only have me work Saturdays. I would hate to quit but the kids are only little once!

We haven't really started food yet. I let Grady try a piece of my banana a week ago and he acted thoroughly disgusted and insulted: thrusted it out of his mouth, made a disgusted look, and turned his head away. So apparently he isn't interested. We'll try again with bits here and there but so far food is a no go.

As for Halloween, DD wants to be a tooth fairy which I was all for since it sounds super easy. Usually she picks something really hard. I ended up buying a tutu and wings because I found a set for $16 on Zulily which is cheaper than the supplies to make them. We'll make a crown and wand and I bought her some awful, gaudy, sparkly shoes from Payless that she LOVES. Grady is going to be a monkey because we had a baby-sized monkey costume given to us by a friend :)

tooth fairy sounds cute. My 3 year old wants to be a rainbow princess fairy and just about every other costume she has seen. My 6 year old was going to be black widow until she found out our friend has a genie costume we can borrow.  My 9 year old is still deciding but leaning towards a devil and I think Cora is going to  be raggedy ann. I already have the dress, just need the stockings. we used to have the wig, but i don't know if we do anymore and it'd be too big anyway.

Thursday, I can totally under stand why you would want to push food in that case. Not only would scalding your milk first be a huge pain but (correct me if i'm wrong) wouldn't it also decrease the nutritional value of the milk?

Dayle, Rosie has also been sleeping through the night since 8-10 weeks but i haven't gotten my period back yet. Maybe because I'm on the pill?  Sometimes i get worried that I'm pregnant again but I'm thinking it's pretty unlikely.

Food: I've started rosebud on food as well, on an irregular basis. She's only about 5.5 months old still but was grabbing for our food and can pretty much sit up on her own so i decided to give it a go. The first time we tried avocado and i loaded a spoon for her (we're kind of taking a somewhat relaxed baby led weaning approach, i guess) and handed her the spoon and she stuck it straight in her mouth and she sucked off the avocado! I was impressed and took it as a sign that she was probably ready, but we only do a few bites of something every day, so not a lot.

Halloween: I think rosie will be going as a firefly or a piglet! I'm gunning for firefly but she really does look like a piglet, too...

WZqzzz (<that was rosebud saying hi!)

You are all making me feel much better about trying food. We just started letting Edie try our water but she's been watching us eat like a little hawk and her new favorite game is having me put our cheeks together so she can feel me chewing. She can almost sit up so I guess we'll probably give it a try this weekend and see what happens.

I made a totally over-the-top fish costume for her, and am going to do some seaweed for her carrier. smile.gif

Raven--wow! Congrats on the house! i would be nervous about that coming back later, but I guess if it does you can always leave, right? Did you get to choose it, or did your FIL just pick which properties to buy?

raven the house is cool. we own our house because Hubs mom signed it over to us. she did it so her son would stay close to her and sure enough the house is the only reason we still live here, it is also the only reason we don't live in a 1 bedroom ghetto apartment so I'm thankful for it.

I'm in a horrible mood, forgive me if I say something ass-y- I am so ready to just run away from  life but I'm sure I'll get over it soon.

isa- can't wait to see pics of the costume.

Something very strange is going on. I've been in a ridiculous funk over the last few days, and reports from friends say that they are experiencing similar dips. The weather? Don't know. But I hope it ends soon. Sorry you're going through it.

All the Halloween costumes sound so cute! I really want Holden to be a garden gnome...we'll see how motivated I am to put that together. Might just hit the Halloween store a cheap something if other.
In the past 4 days we've let Holden taste banana (loved) avocado (not sure) and egg yolk (LOVED!) I might back off for a bit though. Every night after he's eaten solids he's been up 1-2 times (this from a kid who has had maybe 3 night wakings since he was about 8-9 weeks old) I'm thinking he might not be quite ready. I might also try in the morning instead of at dinner time.

Day- garden gnome costume sounds adorable. Also, i am so interested to hear that holden has been waking during the night, too! rosebud has been on the same sleeping pattern all along (from what i could tell) and she has also started waking during the night! I'm lazy and love my sleep so i usually bring her into bed with us at that point, which works, but i kind of miss those extra few hours  of uninterrupted sleep. i wondered if it was maybe the food but i'm still not convinced because i didn't give her anything for a few days with no changes, but who knows? anyway, glad i'm not the only one!

Yeah, I'm super thankful for the house. We picked it out ourselves and were planning on taking on the mortgage, so there's that at least. I know we would have been struggling still though, so this is a great opportunity to build up our savings and actually be able to afford things like birthday parties for the kids.

Dd wants to be Hermione for halloween, so we decided to dress Wulfie as Hedwig. I think I'm going as Amelia Pond, and dh is yet undecided.

Does anyone watch Downton Abby? I just got hooked last week.

Tara: we didn't do solids yesterday and he slept through last night. None today either, so we'll see how he does tonight.

Raven: a little baby Hedwig sounds super cute!

I dressed my second babe as a garden gnome at Halloween!  I don't have ready access to the photos, but he was so cute.  He was only 2 months old at the time, and still had his wrinkled little old man face.  It's a fun costume.

We're backing off of solids a bit, too.  It's led to GI problems, and now, a flaming red rash around his anus.  I am not keen to push it as we have food allergies in teh family... but I do so love letting him explore textures and tastes!  And he is so jealous at meal times. But we need to wait.  He's had about 2 weeks now of questionable stools.  I'm going to give him some probiotics this afternoon.

But I also wonder if the BLW approach leads to a harder adjustment for the gut.  Purees would definitely be easier to digest.
