Relocation Suggestions

Bonjour!

My husband just found out that he will be transferred from Seattle to his work's Paris branch. While we would love to live within Paris we are thinking it would be better for our family (we have two young daughters) to live outside of Paris. An hour commute seems reasonable. Do you have any suggestions for towns outside of Paris that are family friendly and close to train lines?

Merci!

A lot of the parents that go to our school work in Paris proper or La Defense.  They live in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Mariel-Marly, Marly-le-Roi, L'Etang-la-Ville and even in Chambourcy.  Or closer in in La Vesinet.  It's a haul on the Metro/Bus/RER, but you can get a LOT of house out in the 'burbs.

Another thing you need to consider is school.  Are you putting the kids in the French public system?  Or are you picking an International school?   Most of the larger International schools bus, but you don't want to be TOO far away.

Are you a member of MESSAGE yet?  An absolute must...pay for a membership now while you're in the States and get online and ask these kinds of questions.  You'll get TONS of responses!

Good luck with the move!  Paris is amazing.
