ELVs Jules! Hope you're holding baby by now <3
AFM- I went to see the midwife today.. the nurse on the "hush hush" told me to sue the doctor who discharged me with a hemoglobin level of 6.3. The midwife I saw was terrible- she's new. I can't stand her. She's dismissive and not nice. I asked her to check to see if my uterus was shrinking properly.. she dismissed me and said "Oh, we'll do that at 6 weeks." Augh... Tried convincing. Tried telling her about my hemmorhage and my retained placenta and the fact that I'm still having gross thick red bleeding (though it is becoming less red) and she was just very dismissive and rude. Meh.. at least I''m feeling better. She ordered a CBC so I'm hoping my hemoglobin is much higher! Tomorrow marks a week that I've been home and I'm really curious as to what it is...
I'm also really aggravated with my milk supply. My left breast has oversupply and verrrry overactive letdown. Baby pulls away and gets squirted in the face... or chokes... or nurses until her mouth is full of milk and then opens her mouth and dumps milk all over me. My right breast just has an oversupply and she has trouble latching (DD2 had the same issue). And then the breast doesn't get emptied properly- so it's always got something in it. And when it's full, it presses on a nerve, and doing simple tasks with my right arm... almost impossible.
David Joel, caught by his daddy, born at 8:58pm, 8lb4oz, 14in head... 2 hours of labor! Nursing a LOT! I am feeling pretty ok I did have to get stitches for a second degree tear in the same place I tore last time but I will take it! Will post pics when I can... The first time DS met him I nursed both of them and big bro reached out and held his new bro's hand... It was the sweetest thing in the world... Thanks everyone for the labor wishes and for listening to me whine all this time!
Yaaay! (: Congrats Jules. (: See, I told you I'd still be pregnant when you met your LO. ^^
AFM, couldn't fall asleep last night until 4am...then woke up at 7am to pain! It's chilled out by now (8am) but it was a bit of a wake up call. I felt so nauseated!!! And about a million degrees. I guess that's what labor will be like?
Hmm... Actually, I guess they didn't really go away. ha. They are staying around when I get up and walk about, but they are particularly strong (probably a laughable comment after I go through a full labor and delivery) when I lay down (which is a bother since all I want to do is sleep). And now I'm freezing cold!!! I have so many layers on it's ridiculous. I guess I should start timing them at some point.
WCM - Ugh with the MW. Maybe the CBC will give you some info. And I seccond the rec to go with some blocks of feeding.
Anya - Low-tech as it sounds, a heating pad actually helped me.
AFM - going to attempt a walk to the store today wearing the baby. I am really not looking forward to DH going back to work.
Seriously! I kept reading all of the wicked fast labor stories thinking that my previous two labors had been pretty fast, but nothing like that. I anticipated a 38-39 week 4-6 hour birth, but instead we had a 41 week maybe 1 hour birth.
