New to Queer Parenting and TTC 1 month!!

Hey all!

I just inseminated for the first time this weekend, and now am in the 2ww! 

I will be a first time mother and am married to my wonderful genderqueer partner, Jonah.  We live in Michigan and I am a 2L (second year law student).

We did 2 ICI inseminations at home, one Friday night and one Saturday night. We really are concerned we did it too early but word is the sperm can live for 72 hours...

Anyways, just looking for community and support :)

What are some of the earliest signs of pregnancy that you all remember? How early did they happen?

scorpioma!  Good luck in the TWW.  Did you use frozen or fresh sperm?  Frozen lives for 12-24 hours or so, the fresh stuff lives much longer.  Feel free to join us in the Queer Conceptions thread for September.  There is lots of support and info there.

We used frozen, and actually it can live up to 72 hours in fertile environments :)

I am overly versed in my sperm knowledge, it's pretty weird!

Welcome, Scorpiomama!

I am curious about what you're basing this knowledge on. I've spoken extensively with the director of my sperm bank (TSBC) about this, and her feeling is that there is no conclusive research about how long frozen sperm live once in the uterus. (They recommend not counting on more than 24 hours.) Would love to know about any research that's out there on this!

I actually talked to MY sperm bank, too (California Crybank). They said that the 72 hours is the max that frozen sperm can live, not that it always does. It will live longer in fertile mucus, of course! :)

As far as research goes... Not really sure! I am going to ask them!

Also, on another note: I am experiencing lots of little cramps and tons of bloating- I am 5DPO. Is this normal? I have SO long to wait to find out, it feels like, UGH!

Hey scorpio--you are the first person I have met on here from MI! I am waaaaaay up north. Welcome!

And I don't know if anyone knows how long frozen really lives....my FS claimed only 12-24 if deposited directly in the uterus--but closer to 3 days if in the cervix (fertile mucus). It probably also depends on the quality of the sperm.

Not quite the UP--I actually live on an island that is smack dab in the middle of the lower and upper. We are considered part of the lower but our school's sport teams tend to play against UP teams (smaller sizes...). 8 dpo now! The time for all of the 'symptoms' to start!

We are 8DPO too!

At least, if I calculated my O day correctly, since my chart/signs were wild this month (from the stress of inseminating, maybe?)

We inseminated Friday night the 21st and Saturday night. Equinox insem!

So that would put me at... 9DPO if I ovulated Friday and 8DPO if I ovulated Saturday.

So what symptoms are supposed to start at 8DPO? I thought we had to wait a few weeks haha!

We live in Ann Arbor. We are not that far away!! :)

Ha, I meant you are 8dpo...sorry. And symptoms vary so much. Much of the time, people seem to create their own 'symptoms'. You are just extra sensitive to anything happening with your body because of how aware you are. I actually found that I was pregnant the months that I thought I wasn't! Very odd...but lack of symptoms normally mean more than a ton of them. Good luck!
