Ergo vs Mei tei for newborn

Hi. My 5 wk old hates the Ergo ( with insert of course). Sometimes
likes the Maya Wrap RS. Mainly I just carry him in arms all day
because of that and it's been to hot to use them anyway. However
I'm wondering if he might like a Mei Tei any better than the Ergo.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried the Moby wrap? I prefer that one for the "fourth trimester". smile.gif

Hi smile.gif. Thank you for your reply! I have a Moby and love the comfort,
but find it difficult to nurse in and adjusting
is hard once baby is in.

I love our mei tei at any age...but have never nursed in it.

I prefer a mei tie to an ergo with a tiny baby.

Fwiw, I got really good at nursing in my stretchy wrap and woven wrap with the last babe. It just took a little practice smile.gif

May I ask why you prefer the Mei Tei with a tiny baby?

i prefer my mei tai at all stages. i use a ribbon to tie the body in so that the feet can be out it is the new reccomendation and he prefers it anyway. i love nursin in the mei tai as well. i have a hood and i tie it up after i get him latched on. it support his head just right and i can do whatever and nobody even knows i am nursing. i wrap the ties around his back in just a straight criss cross. i dont twist them or anything. when i want to nurse i pull him down lower on my body and pull the straps that are across his back a little farther up his back. his head tips back a little and i pull my boob out the top pf my shirt. then i tie the hod to support his head so that it doesnt flop all around. his body ends up being at a slight angle across my body. in these pics he is 2 months. but this in how i have been doing it since he was 4 weeks. only with the body tied in with the ribbon. it shortens the body too. i also used the ribbon trick on my ergo with great results.

here the straps are under his legs.

i pull them up around his back and pull him down farther on my hips.

they they are across his back. and he is latched on.

the the hood is tied up.

i do this with the ergo too but there are no straps so i just pull him farther down on my hips and arrange the hood.

Lionessmom,  can you explain how you tie the ergo with a ribbon?  Thanks!!

sorry, i hadnt checked in for awhile.

i made my own. i used the tutorial on scanditute.com.

the ribbon... you take a ribbon and tie it around the body to make the body narrower. so that it is only as wide as knee to knee on the baby. the ribbon goes under the butt. around the bottom of the body. it worked for me with the ergo just as well as with the mei tai.

I really like my mei tai with our 3 month old. He's a big guy and can be legs out already. In the ergo he's months from being legs out, I think. I used a rolled blanket between his bum and knees which helps get him in a deep squat. He likes it okay. But the mei tai is super snuggly. My only issue with it so far is that it tends to slip down and I keep having to tie it higher and higher.
