another 20 week ultrasound annoucement!

we had our 20 week ultrasound this morning.

i was just so excited to see my beautiful baby and of course find out the gender.

the ultrasound tech was incredibly helpful and explained everything about all of the measurements, parts of the baby's body as she was going along, and when she got to the genitals, she let us know that it's a GIRL!

i am so excited. i actually cried through the entire ultrasound. it was so beautiful seeing my baby moving around. the tech did have me take some deep breaths and wiggle my legs around to try to get the baby to move. she's apparently a stubborn thing and wouldn't let the tech see her face or the 4 chambers of her heart. everything looks normal, and the doctor that i saw afterwards let me know that from what she saw everything looks perfect, no cleft pallet, etc. but she scheduled another scan in 4 weeks just to follow up and get heart measurements. the scan took over a half hour and she measured everything from femur to waist to brain, and we got to see the blood flow from the umbilical cord, and that our baby is swallowing properly. so amazing.

so we're having a GIRL! i'm beside myself and start tearing up just thinking about it. my mother was pretty convinced that it was a boy, and was shocked when i told her that we're having a girl. holy moly, i'm so happy! joy.gif

my fiance was completely enthralled with the scan whenever i glanced over at him, and held my hand. he's going to be such a great papa.

thank you!

i was so sure that it was going to be a boy from all the people around me commenting with their superstitions from how i'm carrying and gaining weight, to what i eat and heart rate, etc. but it's a girl! i love that my ultrasound tech even wrote "girl" on the printout of the genitalia. haha

be sure to keep us posted with what yours is when you find out! i love hearing about all the babies! so many boys so far! stillheart.gif

Congrats on your healthy girl kellybeth!!! How exciting! So glad the US was a positive experience for you and DH. I was a blubbering mess when I had my first one with DS1.

How wonderful - congratulations!jumpers.gif

Your experience was very similar to mine - seeing the reaction of my DH, watching my little girl moving around, even my tech typed "GIRL" in huge caps on the pic of her labia - it was just incredible! This is turning point for you and your fiance. Things have been different for us since we did the scan. We've been so happy and content knowing things are okay and I've bonded with the baby on a whole new level. (I'm choking up even typing this!) Congratulations, I am thrilled for you and your new "family!" familybed1.gif

thank you all so much! blowkiss.gif

i woke up this morning and said "we're having a baby girl!"  i'm so excited. fiance loves to cuddle next to me and hold the baby, but i think that now that he knows he'll have a daughter that he will bond more, too.
