Water filter decision....ugh!

I've searched the forums, read way too much and now I'm more confused than ever about what water filter to buy!?

I've had an RO filter for about 10 years but we recently moved so am in need another. Or not. My main dislike of ROs is the water waste even though I've seen a system that routes the waste water into the hot water pipes to be used again. But then there's the mineral depletion thing.

A friend has a distiller (which I'm considering) and adds essential minerals back.

I'm also considering a Berkey but my main focus is removing fluoride & I'm not sure how much I need to worry about the possible aluminum dumping with this system.

Right now we're using a Zero brand counter filter which is ok for temporary use but I really want something more permanent with easy upkeep (which is another reason RO is low on my list. Changing those filters is not an easy task!)

I just want to make a decision & be done. Ha! Too much reading. Too much thinking. But I don't want to drop a ton of cash on something I'll regret.

What do you have? Why did you choose it? What should I buy??

Well, we just use the Pur tap filter and it suits us fine. But it doesn't fit your criteria of permanent, easy upkeep, etc. Also I have no idea whether it removes any of the things you're looking to remove.
