I dated this guy for three years, we lived together for two years. We are still very close, he married my brother's ex-girlfriend, and his mother's sister just died. I never met the aunt, but I want to send his mother a card. His mother and I were somewhat close, I think we might have been closer had we met under different circumstances. She is very special to me and I want to offer my condolences to her. She isn't very close to much of her family, but she was closest to this sister who had a troubled life and died as a result of this.
So what do I say? I'm usually pretty good at this, as good as anyone is. I never met this woman so I don't have anything to say about her personally, but I don't want to just not say anything at all. Any advice is appreciated.
