fmorris - though it's probably nerve-wracking, i'm with the others - take a test, just in case!

sandiego & jenny - fx. there is still plenty of time for a bfp.

afm - found out today that the traveling midwife we were hoping to use for attempt #2 doesn't travel to our area, so we are probably back to going to our regular midwife's office. starting to think that after all my panicking about missing my ovulation last month, now that i read more, i may have actually done the insem too early. got my opk pos at 2pm, did the insem at noon the following day, chart looks like i ovulated the day after that. there is a fine line between preparing for success and over-thinking this, and i'm walking it! figuring out the timing is my least favorite part of this whole ordeal! dw is nervous to try doing the iui herself at home, but offered to look into it. ugh... i just don't know what to do.

Trying to figure out the timing is really the worst part of this whole process. While I love that my DD was conceived at home, I was sort of happy to hand the reins over to a fertility clinic this time around and let someone else worry about it.

If you decide to do at-home IUIs, many of us here have done them (it's how I conceived DD), and can talk you through the process. It's very doable, you just need to be conscious about hygiene, keeping things sterile, etc.

sphinxy & granite:  I think that it's true that whatever your body is used to is good and safe for imseminations... if you hear anything about pre-implantation exercise in particualr, let me know! :) I will also do some research.

also granite, my partner also identifies as genderqueer- this community is wonderfully diverse with gender identities and partners!

So cool you guys did IUI at home, one of my friends did as well.

I am using a queer midwife to do our at home IUI, which I know isn't an option for everyone but depending on the city I'm sure there is one! (We are doing 1 ICI (IVI) and 1 IUI with the midwife this month).

I agree, timing is the absolute worst. I inseminated way too early last month. But we learn each month as we go!

I have heard mixed information about how long after a + opk you should insem., what has everyone been doing? I know the timing of IUI is different... This is one reason I am going to be glad to talk to the midwife this week... but I'd be happy for a quick explanation if anyone has the time! 

We are inseminating in about a week.  I am trying to stay zen and stay IN THE DAY, but it gets a little harder each day! I don't want to be going crazy this month like I did last. Last was not good for mental health.

Lise- Thank you so much for your wise impute! My cramping was not just where my ovaries are but all the way across my lower tummy. That's why I thought it was weird. But I am happy to report that the cramps went away sometime in the night after we insemed on Sat! So with any lucky we had perfect timing. DW is doing really well! She hasn't been sick in a while and the dr is so pleased with how she is doing that we have to go back every 6 mo instead of 3 now! Thanks for asking!

How are you feeling? Any better? I saw your bump on QP&P and it's so cute! Can't believe there are three lil ones in there!

SanDiego- Other than the crazy cramping I had one night of hot flashes. That was the night of the insem. The cramps got so much worse then the hot flashes started. It was the pits.

FX that you still get your BFP this month. Just FYI I never could get a HPT to turn pos with my first. Had to have a blood test. So its not over till the nasty AF show!

Missy-Ahh how I have missed you! Your getting so close. I'm super excited for you. Steel balls it the perfect way to put it. That is soo how I felt! It hurt to laugh, cough, sneeze, bend down, stand up, pretty much anything other than staying still. But like I said above, I am feeling much better. Test day will be Nov 2. Hopefully 20th times a charm and I get to join you in QP&P soon!

Fmmorris, sorry about he bfn and the confusing AF. You took drugs this cycle right? Was this the first time if you did? It could have effected your period. If so, def talk to your dr. If you didn't and I am just confused, it could just be a fluke thing and I would try not to stress.

Cordelia, Who are you telling. I did take Femara this cycle, but i've taken clomid the previous. Weirder thing..Yesterday I had some brownish-ness so i'm just about to throw mye hands up nd let mye body do whatever! Not trying to stress too much about it tho..ty!

Sandiego, Hug hug, but dont count yourself out just yet. I read on one forum a BFP was reported 22DPO! Heck that even gave meeh hope lol! FX for you.

AFM, well who the hell knows! Bodys still out doing its own thing..not sure what to make of the little bit of brownish i saw yesterday and the slightest bit today. Please figure out what you'd like to do body!

SunandEr - Did you see my question buried in an earlier post? I live quite near you. Are you a member of the South Shore LGBT parents group that started on Meetup and recently moved to Facebook?

Scorp - Good luck this cycle. Re exercise, the typical advice is: moderate exercise is good, and it generally shouldn't be more strenuous than what you did before you were pregnant.

AFM - Well, I have some betas to report. When you see these numbers, be aware that my second one was delayed three days due to travel. First beta, 14 DPO: 172. Second beta, 19 DPO: 1,762. I asked my doc what her opinion was regarding the possibility of twins, and she said the first beta is actually a stronger indicator than the doubling rate, and my number is well within the normal range. Of course, as many of you know, the normal range is so wide that it could really be anything (singleton, twins, more). U/s scheduled for Nov. 9. I will be sticking around QC at least until then. I hope my little bean gives everyone here more strength to keep going!

I'm just new to this thread so please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place or using wrong abbreviations!

My DP 'wifey' of 11 years & I have decided to try for a baby from the start of next year using IUI. I am starting to chart & waiting to see a specialist in the next few weeks as I'm 39, irregular & not

sure if it's even possible so have no idea what kind of rollercoaster we can expect. It's great to see so many people going through the same thing on here as only 1 other couple on the island I live on have gone through the same thing so I don't really have anyone's experience to go on.

fmorris: Sorry about your whacky cycle.  DW's cycle got a bit off when we started trying, too - not that bizzare, but she went from a 31 day cycle to a 29 and suddenly ovulated at day 16 instead of day 18.  We think it was maybe that her body knew something new was going on - having never been exposed to sperm before, suddenly her body was like, oh, so that's happening.  It's possible that an egg was fertilized but never implanted, or any number of different things are happening.  Of course, this is all conjecture, but I wouldn't worry too much about weirdness.  Just keep charting and doing OPKs and see if you can figure it out.  Sorry this month wasn't the one. 

Sorry to others with BFNs, but I've still got my fingers crossed for everyone!

sooo sick. all of a sudden i just crashed this weekend and i've been a mess ever since! sore throat, sinus headache, the works! whenever i get sick it throws off my cycle, so of course i'm also kicking myself for getting sick because now it will just be harder to predict my ovulation. 

knitting tigers & amypdx - thanks for the offers of support. i haven't really been in the mood to game plan while i've been sick but i think dw and i will be getting there soon. (i've actually been encouraging her to consider joining this board, we'll see!) if we want to talk more about diy iui, i'll send you a pm.

sphinxy, so sorry to hear you are sick. I can feel myself getting a little sick, too, and I am fighting it! where are you in your cycle now?

I am CD 11 today, set to inseminate around CD 17 & 18.

I am feeling excited to try this method our midwife suggested: one ICI 12 hours after the + opk and then 1 IUI 36 hours after. I feel like we're covering more possible ground.

I am willing to moderate, easttowest, is it mostly just updating everyone's status? what else? am I too new of a member to do it?

you are SO right that you moderated in one of the most successful months it seems- we had so many graduates! wow!

EasttoWest, Lol i completely understand. The body's like...what the..? what is this?! I'm going to keep positive and get another game plan together. Not sure if i should switch back to the clomid or not..i never had any really bad side affects but i had more mature follies with it than the Femara this time...we'll figure something out. FX for the next try.

Sphinxy, I hate that your coming down with something. Try and get as much Vitamin C that you can. Bothouse farms (i think thats the name) has a drink called a C Boost. I find it in the organic or fresh produce section in the grocer. That'd help too. Good luck with the next cycle! Thanks for the luck as well!!

AFM, I also looked into mye insurance seeing as mye state has mandated coverage for IVF, but looks like mye insurance won't cover to much of anything seeing as they're based out of FL. Thanks BCBS! Just a thought, but we'll see what's the next game plan.
