Wow!  It's October!  Conner's birth month!  And just a month away from almost all the rest!  How quickly this time has gone.... what feelings does it bring up for all of you?

Well, Shay's 11 months old today and he toddles and signs and is all around pretty cool. I already feel like time moves too fast (I have a 9.5 year old!).  He put 2 signs together recently and Sara said while I was at work he did all the signs for "Itsy Bitsy Spider."

I don't have a lot of emotions yet about his approaching birthday. I think he's a pretty sweet and funny guy and I hope he stays that way.

I'm very emotional about Sora turning 1 year old soon. The infant stage was so hard but I'm still nostalgiac over it and will miss her being so little! People would always tell me that time flies by fast when you have children, but until I lived it myself, I had no idea just how fast time does fly. It's insane. I love motherhood so much and am looking forward to more and more milestones. I was just thinking today about whether or not we should have a 1st birthday celebration, something small. I'm told I'm a great cook and hostess, so I'd have that going for me, but I've never planned a real party before! Nothing with decorations and a cake and all of that. Am I the only one who gets so anxious about party planning? lol. My mom was always good at that. I'll have to enlist her help.

Almost a year already... mecry.gif

I get teary eyed knowing my 2 little babies will be 1 in 1 month. I adore them and their slobber kisses they give me every day. I was feeling so yucky a year ago though.

Baby fever! haha I'm joking, I'm joking..... halfway. I'll keep prodding hubby for a year to change his mind. I can't believe he won't be a baby anymore. He won't be as dependent on me anymore. He'll *gasp* start doing things against my wishes! It's amazing how I expected my older two to be more independent at this point than Levi is, but with Levi, I'm happy just where he's at now. I wish he'd stay this little forever. That would be nice. Such a fun stage!

Every stage for me has felt like my favorite, but the newborn/pre-mobile stage was easiest for me. This stage is waaaaay fun but it's just so exhausting! It's hard for me to know whether I'm exhausted chasing after her or whether the sleep deprivation has just built up for me. KJ was a very, VERY chill newborn and now she is screechy and demanding. Which makes me laugh and fills my heart with joy. But I am just so tired all the time and its starting to get to me. I also think I might not be eating enough, which is probably contributing to the problem.

I am excited for KJ's first birthday! I don't really feel like the last year has flown by, because I feel like I have known KJ forever, you know? Also there have been so many changes in the past year. I also feel like since I had KJ I have been so in-the-moment with her, so relishing this time helps it last longer, kwim? Obviously I've had LOTS of hard times, crying jags, etc but the last 11 months have been the best of my life, by far.

Nak.  Reminds me of the book "Winter Moon Rises" (cheesiest writing in the world, but neato concept)

My little guy has taken to crawling in super fast circles while growling and roaring.  If you ask him if he's a dinosaur, he'll give you the biggest smile.  Soooooo cute.  I'm so excited for this next year because I think toddlerhood is way fun.  But I will miss his babyishness.

I just can't believe we are about two months away from Noch's birthday! This year has flown by! I just enjoy every stage because with having two older kids I know how fast it goes. smile.gif the jury is still out of more kids, but since we don't use birth control the likelihood is high, lol. I'm hoping at least 2.5 years spacing though...

My daughter turns three the week before Enoch turns one so they'll have a joint party! smile.gif

Casey turns 3 this coming Sunday. We've got craziness for birthdays and holidays this year. LOL

Been up for hours with a feverish screaming baby. Finally in a lukewarm bath and I put my finger in his mouth to find him working on his THIRD molar. Ahhhhh.

Kali, those molars are awful.  Enoch is smart to get them out of the way as soon as possible.

Awww! Kali! :( At least he's not a screaming TODDLER yet and he got them out of the way. Coffee, mama, coffee.

I love this age so much, that it doesn't really make me sad that she's growing.  I guess I don't tend to get sad about those kinds of things.  I'd say that over-all 6mo-2y is my favorite time, so we're right in the thick of it.  Coralie just turned 10mo, so she still has a couple months before she's 1.

Coralie is very happy and very sensitive.  I'd say by far she's my most sensitive baby.  If you smile at her, she's all laughs and giggles, but if you scold her (pretty much only when she bites me and I yelp a bit) she bursts into tears like you've just ruined her whole day.

I need some baby wearing advice.  Weight is NOT the issue.  I have an old shoulder injury that has flared up once since B was born, and took 3 months to go back to normal.  Up until that point I used my Moby EVERY day and B loved it.  Ive been using a ring sling since because it only rests on one shoulder, but its started to take a toll on one of my hips.  I have never tried anything else, but I'm wondering how other carriers do distributing the weight-  like, which carriers distribute some weight to the hips the best, or evenly on the shoulders and hips?  I just cant have all 15 pounds resting on my shoulders.  Im afraid to commit to anything I don't know a ton about because the prices for good carriers are so steep...

I am feeling a tad nostalgic and sad about Eli turning 1 in just a little over a month.  Time really has flown super fast.  My hubby keeps asking that we have another babe soon!  :)  I keep putting it off though, I think I need a little more time inbetween!  Elijah is so sweet and sensitive (much like Coralie - he laughs and giggles, but one ouch or scold he bursts out crying!) but he is sooo cute.  I love how much he has grown.  I do miss his squishy babyness but we had such a struggle in the first few months that I am glad that part is over (severe colic, super early teething [he started at 6 weeks - my midwife couldn't believe it] and terrible terrible latching issues, I almost gave up trying but stuck it out with a shield until his mouth was bigger at 3 months, he latched perfectly).

I am thinking of just doing an open house type thing for Eli's birthday.  I have seen a few of my friends do it, and it looks like a good idea since Eli is only 1. Maybe a cake and a few decorations.  We are still struggling a bit financially so it can't be anything too expensive ;)

As for carriers - I found with Eli that my shoulders/back would get sore super fast using the moby once he got bigger (he is a big boy - 32 inches and 25 lbs) and I bought a Boba carrier!  Best decision ever!  It is ergonomically correct and distributes the weight really well.  People ask me all the time how I can carry him, but using the Boba it doesn't really feel like he actually weighs 25 lbs!  Just my 2 cents worth - I never tired the Ergo, so I can't say how comfy it is.  But the Boba works for me ... I take the stroller on longer trips (we don't have a car and bus everywhere) but I always have my carrier because most of the time I do carry Eli.  He just loves being with me.  He likes being in the stroller when he can see interesting things like dogs (they are his favourite and he can say Doggy!) ... but if he is tired, fussy or just needs his mamma, I carry him.

J - I'd love to see photos!

I also am intrigued by Autumnshades' idea of an open house for a birthday. That sounds neat! Then it wouldn't be a huge commitment to host everyone simultaneously for a huge chunk of time (especially since we don't have a very big home and have limited seating). I like the idea of people coming and going at their leisure and keeping things low-key, and low cost. We don't have disposable income right now to go all out on a party.

We had an open house for DD's first birthday - and it was potluck. Snacks and appies. We just put the time we were smashing cake on the invite (digital only) so unless they were busy otherwise, most people came for the cake event, and some time either before or after. I didn't do any decorations other than a felt birthday crown for the birthday girl (who didn't wear it) and a couple of balloons for the older kid guests, but we had a family-friendly playlist, and coffee and drinks. It was more a party for us.

We might do something a bit more birthdayish for Oren - for Mirabel's sake. She's so excited about his birthday - to her this is the BEST part about having a little brother, the extra birthday party! Helium balloons (if there is any helium left in the world by then) ribbon streamers, a birthday banner and carrot cupcakes. M also believes that pinatas are an essential part of a birthday (I agree) but I've almost got her convinced that you only have pinatas for kids that are old enough to take a whack at their own. Thinking about it, this seems even more elaborate than we can manage since we are moving the weekend after the party. Oren's birthday is two days after Canadian Rememberance Day, which is a holiday here. So I plan to always have his birthday party on the long weekend. No one ever goes anywhere for the Rememberance Day long weekend, so that works fine.

And as for how I'm feeling about Oren turning one - I feel trepidatious. From 1 to 2 was the HARDEST time with spirited DD, I almost lost my mind. I am so not a fan of pre-verbal toddlers. But Oren is a totally different baby, and it will likely be a totally different experience. He may be just the sweetest little toddler that ever was. I am looking forward to watching his personality develop, and that development really takes off after 12 months.

And as for carriers - I'm less in love with my Ergo this go round, but for DD I would have sung it's praises. I'm short, with big, big boobs and a soft tummy, so it just doesn't fit right. But my problem is that it often puts too much weight on my hips - I have hip problems - and I have a friend who wears hers without having the shoulder straps even touching her shoulders, so it seems pretty good at distributing weight. You can shift the weight pretty good by how the straps are tightened. But just be prepared to have to readjust your straps every time you switch wearers.

I'm feeling kinda sad about Harlan turning 1.  He could be out last baby and i think that is a big reason for feeling kinda sad about it.

Carriers ~ I love the Ergo with the other two kids but didn't enjoy it with Harlan so sold it a while back. I love wearing a wrap that i bought and used alot with Ryker. It's a Merry Carry Wrap in the color purple and pink stripes but doesn't scream girly at all to me and dh has no issues with me wearing Harlan in it.
