Stay safe!  Are there any other board moms in the northeast?  I cannot remember.

My sons bio-dad lives in PA and this morning he couldn't get a hold of him and was pretty concerned.  I told him he probably just had his phone off.  And that he was somewhat inland and should be fine.  But I felt bad sending him to school worried.

I grew up in Lynnwood!  The Edmonds School District is great (which includes Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Mill Creek, and Edmonds).  Lynnwood is about 15-20 minutes from Everett and traffic through that area can get really bad.  I would've thought there would be plenty of affordable housing in Everett.

Yes, with the high military presence you would think there would be a lot of places, especially apartments!  My husband did a TDY to Everett (which is within driving distance for us)  and they put him up in a hotel, and I came up with the kids on the weekends.  Its a busy town, lots to do, and a nice big mall.  But yeah...that short drive between Everett and Lynnwood involves what I can only assume is some of the worst traffic ever.  Around there, closer would be better.

oh, yeah, everett is affordable as well. i was just suggesting surrounding areas to include in searches. (aaaand... maybe if she was slightly further south it would make playdates more convenient? lol!) but yeah, i forgot how unfun that stretch of freeway can be during rush hour :/

I can't stop thinking/worrying about everyone in the path of hurricane Sandy. I guess NICU's in New York are operating on battery power after both generators failing. So sad! crap.gif

Thanks for the invite, Sara!  I appreciate the sentiment, but I think that I'm more equipped to handle things in my own house... hopefully.  Dh left this morning, though his flight was cancelled due to high winds.  He decided to drive up to Chicago and get a flight out of there instead.  Sigh...  I was secretly hoping he'd just throw in the towel and skip the conference with everything that's going on weather wise.  So my 5 days and 4 nights solo begins, including solo Halloween with three kids.  Boo.

Happy almost birthday to Conner!

Jaimee, it's probably good that you can't come, my older kids may get chicken pox in the next week or two.

We had to move Shay's birthday party to tomorrow, so babies don't get exposed to the pox. So I have worked all week and I get a couple of hours to cook and clean, rather than a whole day. Yay! Toddlers sure are messy!

Are you having a pox party, Sara? Just curious cuz I wanted to check out trying to get some over here within the next month. Is that too early for Levi?

We are not planning a pox party, lol, but you live too far away. I hope it's not too early for Levi, Soren is only 6 months. The kids have been exposed before but never got a convincing rash. So we don't know if they will get it. Our friends don't want it.

Is it common for children to get rashes towards the end of a "cold" virus? Sora and I have both been sick for nearing 2 weeks now with THE WORST cold I've ever had in my life, and we're finally feeling much better with symptoms subsiding. I have no rash but I noticed Sora's torso and back are all rashy today. She doesn't seem itchy at all. I mentioned it to her sitter and the woman said she watches another child whose mom took him to the doctor for something similar months ago and his ped said it's common to get rashes when viruses are working their way out. That was a relief, but I've never heard of this before! Experiences? All I know is that I'm doing a happy dance for Sora's immune system boost. Haha!

Our family had a horrible virus a few weeks ago, and Oren had a rash on the way out. I wasn't concerned, though I did wonder if it was Fifth Disease or Roseola - but figured it was just a viral rash because I had also been horribly ill. Both of those are childhood illnesses.

I'm the 2nd of four in my family and the ONLY one to ever develop the Pox. The doctor even said it was such a mild case, he wouldn't be surprised if I got it again. I got it when I was 2. My mom said that she made all 3 of my siblings sleep in bed with me while I had it and none of them contracted it (Nor have any of them ever had it).

So if you want to go ahead and send some my way, too, I can go ahead and take some and give a little dose to Conner, too. =)

I tried googling a good age to have a pox party and all I came across was forum posts of women asking and getting ridiculed for it.. :/

Sara, I was going to ask that if you thought your kids had the Pox, if you could send a shirt our way. lol lol.gif Some of our local AP group is looking to have a pox party and there's no one here that has it.

I want some pox over here too, jeez! Sara might have the Feds knocking on her door from shipments of laced shirts going across the country. ROTFLMAO.gif

I have a friend in her mid-20's who never had chicken pox but was vaccinated, and she is convinced that she can still get chicken pox if she comes across someone with it. Is that true? She's super terrified of it, though, and I'm sure she's terrified of Sora now as well. Note: this is a different friend than the one aforementioned. Oy. Remind me to keep my mouth shut around friends/family about wanting Sora to catch chicken pox naturally. LOL

I don't know if they check things like that, do they? I know it's illegal in some states...

No idea. It doesn't SOUND legal, though. Ha!
