I'm not getting Shay anything for his birthday, Hanukkah or Christmas.  We have clothes all the way up to size 8 and he wears 18 - 24 months.  I may make him some finger puppets since we have none and I think he would enjoy them.

Speaking of birthdays, today Casey is three! I still can't believe it. She's my little girl *sigh*

We won't be getting Coralie much, if anything at all for her birthday.  We really don't have room to add more 'stuff' and she doesn't really need anything.  I already have a ton of clothes and enough toys for our small space.  I suspect she'll get a few things from others, which will be plenty.  I'm not that much of a party person, especially for 1 year olds.

I made something similar for my daughter when she turned 3.  It's a felt board that is a landscape.  The grassy hills make up a little pocket to store a bunch of flower shapes, stigmas, stems, leaves, and clouds.  I embroidered the flowers, leaves, and stigmas.  She can mix and match the flower parts.  It really turned out so nicely!  The bugs are a great idea.  I'll have to make some for her to add to it.  I got the idea from a friend of mine who made a gift for my daughter of felt dress up dolls.  She embroidered all these different felt dresses, separates, and shoes and made one felt lady to stick the clothes on.  It is a gorgeous toy.  My daughter still plays with both of them.

For my B's birthday, he's going to get an honorable mention at his big sister's birthday party (which I still have to plan!!!!!!) since their birthdays are four days apart.  We'll do a special small family thing at home on his real birthday.  I am half Japanese, so we have a first birthday tradition where you set out several objects (money, abacus, food, book, paint brush etc.), and then have the birthday baby crawl (or toddle) over to the objects and see what they select.  It is supposed to give you some insight into their future.  It was really cool to watch my daughter choose her object when she turned one.  She really took her time examining each object and was pretty deliberate in choosing the abacus.   I can totally see B barreling toward the items and grabbing the food!

Zippy, THe one year tradition sounds like fun. What are stigmas?

Abra, I think it's time to update your siggy. It says you only have 2 kids and a suburban homestead.

Sarah, the stigma is the sticky part of the flower on top of the style (the neck leading down to the ovary)- it's sticky to collect the pollen.

Sounds cool, Anthea!

That was what I thought, but then I couldn't figure out why it would be separate, so I second guessed.

Sara - Thanks for reminding me, I always forget to update that thing!

For Christmas we do "One they want, one they need, one to wear and one to read." And this year I think will be the first year DD will really get it, so I want to make sure she and O have the same thing going on. Plus a stocking. For both kids, the wear is always pajamas that they get to open Christmas Eve, and wear right then. For his want, Oren is getting a soft ball. Because the kid is gaga for balls. For need - probably winter "boots." And then a book from the thrift store.

And for his birthday he's going to get slippers, maybe Padraigs, because we're moving to a chilly, drafty farmhouse and the kid is going to need slippers. Normally I make my kids birthday presents, knitting or toys, but not this year, since we're moving three days before O's birthday.

That's a REALLY good idea. I just planned on wrapping boxes, because I know he'll have a blast opening them and not really care about what's inside, LOL.

For Christmas the big kids are getting a Tablet i bought through a co-op i'm in. That way they will stay away from my ipad.  I'm not sure what Harlan's big gift will be yet.

I am so desperate for sleep :(  I mean, completely miserably desperate.   B has been up all night crying/whining for 3 days.  I have tried everything, every way of sleeping...and nothing has worked.  My husbands schedule recently changed to swing shift for a few weeks and I think its messing with her sense of normal.

Eugh.

Im a zombie.

hug2.gif I hear you, Ash. For a few nights in a row, Levi decided it was time to play at 3AM. This was after I stupidly decided to go to bed at 1AM.

I so get the tiredness you all are feeling.  I have been dealing with Eli sleeping soooo poorly for 4 months (since he cut his first tooth!) ... last week he slept through 2 nights, but then he was sooo miserable during the day.  The nights where he was up a lot, he was happier during the day?  weird.  2 nights ago, Eli was up standing in his crib at 2am (he sleeps in our room) and he was bouncing :)  (I didn't get to bed till almost 1am because my hubby worked till 11:30pm and I hadn't seen him so I wanted to spend some time with him).  Eli didn't go back to sleep until 4:30 - he was bright eyed and bushy tailed :)

On another note - Eli got his first bloody nose yesterday uhoh3.gif  He was playing on his little chair near the coffee table - not quite sure what he did, but he fell forward against the coffee table - nothing worse than seeing your baby bleed!  So scary!  We managed to stop the bleeding and I nursed him - and he was better after that.  Oi ...

Aww! So sad! Seeing them get the first bump on their head is bad, but seeing blood from them is even worse.

Sleep has been bad for months around here, but has recently gotten worse.  And Austin has decided to start waking up again in the night.  I'm thinking it's partly the weather, but who knows.  I've also been scooping, hauling, and dumping compost in every free moment for days.  So lots of hard labor + no sleep at night = sore and tired mama.  UGH.

I think we're still getting 2-3 wake ups at night, but only 1-2 times while I sleep, so I count myself lucky.

Shay fell down half a flight of steps recently.  I think he is now officially a walker.  It is his preferred mode of transportation, but still quite silly looking. He realized that he can carry goodies around while walking and is thrilled with the possibilities.

Awww! Poor baby! That would be scary. When Casey was 9 months old, I set her in her seat on a chair. I turned around to help Michael and she leaned forward in her seat, it fell out of the chair and she hit her face on the linoleum. I think I cried harder than her. lol

Coralie still wakes 3-4 times a night, she always goes right back to sleep though.  I think she's only been awake in the middle of the night once or twice since she was a newborn.

Conner still isn't walking. He'll walk holding on to my hands, furniture, etc., but if I even think about trying to let go of his fingers, he either freaks out and grabs my hand back, or he sits right down.

But this kid climbs stairs like it's no one's business.
