Today, I realized that I'm abnormally drained for the second trimester. Not as bad as I was in a previous pregnancy (in which everything was fine but me meaning no anemia; just miserable).   I actually had quite a bit of energy in the first trimester so  I'm trying to be more consious about my vitamin intake and also drinking RRL tea and Nettles to try to get some vitamins and some extra iron.

Babmi - there are lots of things you can do to help with the pain too. For one, using lots of lube (I prefer astroglide to the ky, personally) because it's not uncommon for the hormones to make things drier then usual down there and that can add to the discomfort and make sure you have lots of foreplay - it may not seem important but getting physically aroused will ease the discomfort for a lot of women. Being on top doesn't work so well for me, but I know it does work for lots of other couples, so try it and see what you think. My hubby is kind of chubby and I'm short so I feel off balance lol. BUT there are many other positions you can try. I don't want to get into TMI but feel free to PM if you'd like suggestions orngbiggrin.gif (or we could start another thread or something, I just don't want to offend anyone). We don't DTD very often (once or twice a week, at most) but thankfully when we do it's really good lol.

AFM I'm feeling better over all. Less food aversions and nausea in general, so that's good. But now the cravings are hitting in full force and when I get hungry, I get famished QUICKLY. I'm still having a really hard time staying hydrated though. It's a little bit better but not much. I'm super tired though and really need to make a better effort to take all of my vitamins (and pick up a few things that I'm not currently.) I have iron absoption issues so I just started taking a B-complex again (which I can barely swallow because it tastes so bad) and am probably going to start with yellow dock and thistle too. I'd really like to get ahead of the anemia - it got so low last time I was almost risked out of our hb because of it. I'm also going to pick up some nutritional yeast for that reason as well. Hoping it'll all helps with the energy too.

DH got to feel the baby move for the first time the other night, so that was extra special. The girls are all so excited to get to feel it too. Hopefully soon.

I hope everyone's having a great week!

FSM - I've been having a hard time staying hydrated too.  I just don't feel thirsty, but then I noticed I feel hot and my lips are parched.  So I've been trying to drink, drink, drink, and that has  been helping me feel better.

Love the U/S pics, Cananny!  How exciting!

Martha, I don't have much of a libido either except with TTC.  But lately I've been feeling better and DP has been looking SOOOO handsome to me, heh.  The trouble is that by the time DD is in bed, I am too wiped out to do anything.

I've started doing the RRL tea too and it seems to help with the nausea too....  Also, I think that finally being in the 2nd tri has helped with that!  Thank goodness, because for a while it was sooooo awful that I nearly cried a few times.  I feel so much better that I cleaned my stove today...but my house still smells like an animal died in it.  Literally, I think a mouse died behind my fridge.  Ugh, gonna have DP check it out when he gets home (he's gonna be thrilled!).

I also got to hear the baby's HB today - only for a moment, and it sounded kind of slow to me compared to what I remembered from my first pregnancy, but the midwife seemed happy and confident that we had heard the HB, so I'm taking it as good news.  And at my appt I found out that I am in good health and no anemia, so that is good.  The only thing I noticed after I left is that on my paper it says I have thrombocytopenia.  I googled it and it's low platelets.  I have always bruised easily and had chronic nosebleeds when I was a kid, so I am wondering if this is just a normal thing for me.  The midwife didn't bring it up so I'm hoping it's NBD?  Anyone else had this?

Also re: smells.  Who was it that said they wished that they could just smell cookies all the time instead of stink?

Our power was out for a few days and despite my haphazard prego attempts at cleaning out the fridge, it stank bad.  DP cleaned it out while I was working on Sunday, and then went to Rite Aid and bought a scented candle and complementary cheap thing of reed diffusers.  It "smells like" autumn apple.  And it is WONDEROUS.  I don't generally do air fresheners because it reminds me of my mom's over use of Renuzit in the 90s.  But I love the scented apple candle.  And then I bought an Aura Cacia electric room freshener tonight and plugged that in too and it is also great.  All I smell is apples and cloves.

Of course, now that the whole kitchen is clean and the power is back on it smells like there is a dead animal in the wall.  :facepalm  (Oh yeah, looks like I mentioned that already.  DP looked behind the fridge and there was nothing.  Pretty sure it's a dead mousey in the wall.)  But as long as I sit in the living room with my scented candle and my room freshener, I can't tell....

Anyhow, I hope everyone else is having a good week.  :)

Libido....gone.  I swear, I hit 12 weeks and it vaporized instantly.  VERY noticeable.

On another note...we definitely got some confirmation on no longer staying with my OB.  So I will be cancelling my 11/1 appointment and we will be back on the unassisted route (save for regular thyroid panels and a late, pre-delivery u/s), unless God leads us otherwise!!

I usually have absolutely NO libido. I'm not sure why. But I really think that I have hypothyroidism and that has something to do with it. Low libido is a symptom and I have several family members that do have it. On top of my EXTREMELY slow metabolism, it's got to be something like that. I've had a blood test but it was normal. I should have them check that again, because that was years ago.

I think the only reason my libido has increased is because of the dreams that I have. 2whistle.gif

Had my 1st midwife appt yesterday, and lets just say I was a little disappointed. Originally I was going to go with another midwife and had a consultation with her. Loved her & her office. But then I found out that this other midwife office is moving so much closer to me and I can deliver at a much closer hospital, so I decided to go with the other midwife. I think I may have made a mistake. Their office is sooo medical, the appt was very medical - by time I left, I kinda felt violated.  Everything was so white and sterile. We did a pap, STD & HIV screening, blood work, urine sample, breast exam, etc. I know, I know - all typical things I guess. But my last birth was a home birth and I barely did any of that. Only checked urine for protein and a finger prick for iron. So I am very much way less enthusiastic about all this medical stuff.

I did get to hear the heartbeat for the 1st time at over 12 weeks so that was nice. And I learned this midwife charges everything through the OB in the office, so they will actually be in-network for me as far as insurance goes, so I'll probably stay for that reason alone.

Sorry it didn't go so well. I just PM'd you, as I've been considering making the same switch too.

Well I just got back from my 16 weeks appt. I'm still down under my pre-preg weight altho up a little from my lowest 5 weeks ago. But still no gainage so ill take it we had another cervix check and we only got to see baby for a minute and he/she was head down so we couldn't see "the goods" from the trans vag ultrasound. I asked them abt my dizzy/short of breath spells and he said it sounded normal but he wants be to cut back on my sugar intake, just as a precaution. My BP was perfect. The worrisome news is that my cervix has shortened since my last visit. Last visit at 12wks it was around 3.8 and now it's at 2.7. He said I'm still in the normal range but doesn't want it to keep shortening that fast cuz once it gets under 2 it's a concern. He mentioned I might end up needing a cerclage at some point and that we want to make that decision while there is still enough cervix left to get a good stitch around it. So I'm going back to the MFM specialist I saw before in 2 weeks, to get their opinion of the "cervical situation" and they will do my anatomy scan as well then! YIPEEE can't wait for that. We had plans to go with friends this weekend to the pumpkin patch and see a live band there but doc said no hayrides for me. To bumpy. Bummer. We also have a trip to NC planned in 2 weeks, which we will also have to wait and see what the specialist says before we know if we can go. I'm nervous, but just trying to focus on the good, which is baby is awesome! Just praying my body will cooperate.

Blah! I'm glad that you got some good news, and also glad that they caught this!! It stinks that you have to change plans, but it's so worth it. For the past three months, I have complained at least once a week about how I am dying to get a new tattoo... And have a whole six more months to wait! Ha! I actually have ten and really shouldn't get more. Having a baby will definitely delay that, because I'm sure we will be broke! Ha.

Hi ladies...I am currently 15 weeks pregnant with my second baby and was just told that I am positive for GBS.  They found it in my urine culture and I took antibiotics.  My question is...has anyone ever had this experience?  Tested positive for GBS in their urine?  I am freaking out about this because I read all of this info online and it scared me...please anyone if you have any insight I would appreciate it.  Also, any other remedies I can try?  THanks!!!wink1.gif

Congrats and welcome to the April due date club!  There is actually a thread here at the April DDC on GBS, with a link to some useful info, and you can also post questions there so the other mamas here with GBS (there are some) can find you quicker http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1365595/group-b-strep

So the heartburn has been kicking my booty lately!!  I am partly at fault as I haven't been keeping up on my d-limonene.  Thankfully I had manuka honey lozenges on hand so I popped in one of those and was amazed at how quickly it worked.  Funny, I've always rec'd it to people for heartburn/reflux issues (we love manuka honey here) but never actually used it for that purpose myself...now I know it's truth!! LOL

Had to get up at an awful hour, but flew home today. Miss Ohio so bad already.

Looking forward to letting the cat out of the bag with more people now. But we have to tell my in-laws first.

Us mamas should follow the advice we give others! I discovered the same magic about honey last spring when I had a horrid cough and finally took honey for it. It was amazing! I could sleep at night without waking up once to cough. Yay for honey!!!

Haha!  No kidding!  I love honey for everything else, too (colds & coughs, yes please!!!!), particularly in tea...lemongrass, definitely!!  I've never tried the manuka in tea though...hubby thought it was a bit strong when he did. (probably that antibacterial tea tree touch)  But I've never taken it for heartburn yet because I just haven't had a need...until now, and now I feel silly for knowing it was so great and missing out on it all these years!  Ha!!  At least now I can say "It works, trust me!" instead of "I've read it works." LOL

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've peeked in every once in awhile, so I didn't fall too behind, but...

I want to whine for a minute. I hope y'all don't mind.  They started mandatory overtime and work, and it's really kicking my butt. Yesterday, I was in so much pain, it wasn't even funny. Too sore to sleep, but *so* very tired. All the stairs, all the walking/running, it's starting to get to me. I'll get over it, and I'll keep working as long as I can, but I don't know how anyone can keep a manual labor position whilst pregnant.

I'll have to try honey for heartburn. It's not been quite as bad the last couple of days, but when it's bad, it's bad. I don't remember it being this bad with either of my other two, either, but it'll be fine. :) I have been trying to figure out names, and I have nothing. DF doesn't have much, either, except he offered up one name, the name of a Buddha, and that's not the first time, so I don't know if he's wanting to name the baby that, or just throwing out a name so I'll stop bugging him. :P It's just different, with DS and DD, we just knew what their names would be, whether it was a boy or a girl. With this one, I'm stumped.

I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and I've started getting some heartburn. Apple cider vinegar and aloe have worked in my past pregnancies.

Also, I get super nauseas if I lay on my right side at night. Which leaves me only able to sleep on my left side which is driving me crazy.

Me and my DH are fighting like crazy lately. We're trying to save up some more money before moving out of my Dad's after the 1st of the year. He has started this PT sales job on top of his FT job and I feel like its only costing us money instead of making us any money. Where as he thinks he can get it going and make it his FT job within 2 yrs. I'm tired, nauseas, stressed, I hate my job, and generally in a bad mood all the time. He gets mad at how negative I am. We just go around in circles, which include him not understanding at all about my hormones driving me most of the time.  We barely talk.  Our 7 yr anniversary is on Monday. I tried and tried to make plans with him but nothing was working out. So I told him I was done trying to make plans, if he wanted to do something he needed to make them. Well its Friday and I've heard nothing about his plans - I'm guessing he didn't make any. I will be heartbroken if he doesn't come up with something. I know its only an anniversary, but with all our fighting and general dislike of one another lately, I think we really need at least a night out alone. Maybe it will help. I don't know, sorry, just ranting now.

FWIW, I"m not sure if regular honey would have the same effect as the manuka honey.  Pretty sure it's because of the antibacterial properties of the manuka working against H. Pylori.

DF and I have been pretty at each other's throats lately, too. It doesn't help that we only get to see each other about half an hour a day, if that, unless one of us loses sleep, which just ends up making us more cranky, and then we try to spend some time on Saturday together. I completely understand about being upset, I would be too. *hugs* I hope things work out for you, and y'all get to do something special. :)

Where can you find manuka honey? I've never heard of it before.

Is anyone else not feeling pregnant? The last couple of weeks, I haven't felt pregnant at all. It bothers me a little. But DF said that since this pregnancy isn't in any way similar to my first two, that everything is fine. I just can't wait until the 30th for my appointment, and hopefully they'll do the heartbeat.
