Paraguard?

DH and I are looking at birth control options. We were originally planning a vascetomy but we are still only 90% sure that we will not have any more kids and dont want to make the decision now when we are already overwhelmed with our 2, but may feel different as they get older.

Has anyone had the paraguard IUD? I dont want to do anything hormonal. I had a really hard time being on any hormonal birth control and an even harder time coming off.

I have no experince w this, but I am in the same situation (DH wants vacectomy, but I am not 100% sure I want this to be the last baby). So I am interested in other responses!

Interested in this as well.  I can't do hormonal for multiple reasons but am terrified of IUDs.  I'm not sure spermicide+barrier+NFP will cut it...

I'm also going back to work this time.  With DD2 I was a SAHM and didn't get AF until close to 15 months PP.

Yeah, I just feel like I worked so hard to get the hormones out of my system before conceiving DD that going on them again just doesn't seem right.  My AF didn't come back with DD until 22 months post partum.  I don't feel like I am especially fertile while nursing, but I don't want to count on that...

I had Paraguard after DD and loved it. I had it taken out and was pregnant with Cameron within a week. We are 90% sure that he is our last, but waiting til 100% for the big V, so ill get another Paraguard soon

DONT COUNT ON NURSING AS BIRTH CONTROL! There is a 5% that can get pregnant or if your LO starts sleeping longer at night, it can trigger ovulation. I, unknowingly, got pregnant when my son started sleeping 4-5 hours through the night. I never got my period back but I sure ovulated... and we were using withdrawal..... and because of all this we have a beautiful daughter, but definitely not trying that route this time!

i was *thisclose* to getting an IUD after DS1 was born but talked myself out of it for the (very low) chance of perforating my uterus. i thought we were going to be done at 2 kids but omg i love this tiny face and i cant bear to think i'll never have a teeny baby of my own to stare at again! I dont know what to do about BC. I'm thinking abstinence lol.gif

I had a paraguard for about 2 years. I naturally have light, short periods, but the were long and heavy with the IUD. After years of taking care of birth control, I'm going to let DH take over for a while. In a year or two, we'll consider a vasectomy, but it is too early now. For now, I think we'll go for fertility awareness, condoms, and sponges. Maybe.

That's something I've read about that scares me.. I have heavy 10 day periods.
