Newborn in a boulevard?

I'm pregnant with #2 and hoping to skip the infant seat this time around. I have a britax boulevard, which I know is supposed to fit babies as small as 5 lbs, but I'm wondering how well a newborn will actually fit.

Which Boulevard do you have? If it's the older style, it won't fit a newborn. If it's a 70 or 70CS, it might if you purchase the optional infant insert to go with it. But if you have any reason to believe you'll have a short baby, I'd probably not count on it. You could pick a different convertible or you could go for an inexpensive infant seat to get you by until baby grows into the Boulevard.

I'm not even sure which one it is. I got it about 3 years ago. 

I also have a radian. Would that work any better? Although, that may not actually be an option since I don't know if my DS will still fit in the britax at that point. :/ I really want to avoid buying another seat if possible. 

I guess in the worst case scenario we could just walk places and/or not go anywhere for a couple weeks and then hopefully the new baby would fit in the britax. I really don't expect to have a particularly small baby. DS was 8 lb 11 oz and 21 in and he grew really fast.

If it's a 2009 model, it won't fit a newborn.  It typically doesn't fit kids until about 10-12 pounds (sometimes longer).
