I filled my gas tank up today and bought a new back wiper for my car, but within budget.
I also planned a good part of DD's bday party (which is on 10/20) and borrowed a bunch of stuff from my parents instead of trying to buy it (I would have bought from a thrift store anyway, but free is better!). I borrowed tea cups and saucers and a teapot (she's having a costumed tea party). I also planned the food and decided that for a little project, the girls will paint small pumpkins or gourds to take home (which I'll buy for fairly cheap and will also serve as the centerpiece for the table) and I will send them home with some chocolate chip cookies that I bake myself. The food will include hot spiced apple cider, apples with caramel sauce, and pumpkin cupcakes with buttercream frosting. I budgeted $30 for this party and I think I will definitely be able to stay within that! :)
Tomorrow's the day I will look at my budget again and decide what I will need to spend money on for the next week. Week 1 = success!

groceries $41As far as spending this week, groceries are done, so I just need to make what I have work (which shouldn't be a problem). If I can find used snow pants for DD, I will buy them. I am going to see music on Saturday night and I'm going to plan on having to buy a ticket, although I might be able to get one for free--not sure yet, though. While I will be going out, I will NOT be buying any drinks--that will kill my budget REALLY fast! That should be it as far as spending goes this week. Hoping to have another successful week!

post #33 of 16710/10/12 at 10:45amHi everyone - I'd like to join in. I'm Kristin, a WOHM to 2 girls, and a boy on the way (due in less than a month). I only recently got my job, so we are still playing catch up from 2 years of being upside down in our budget each month. With the holidays and gobs of birthdays approaching, I know we won't be no-spend, but I am hoping to limit unnecessary spending, and would like to track where our $ is going better so we can make better choices, especially since I won't be working as much over the next 2-3 months with the baby coming.

My budget is so tight that after I pay the bills for this week and buy bday presents for DS - both budgeted for - I will have $12 to get me to next payday 10/19. This scares me. This is my first month doing a budget as per Dave Ramsey and I am not liking it. I could borrow $$$ from my SO if I have to, but I want to figure this out.

My wallet is locked in the filing cabinet. We've got a lot of family stuff planned today -- it is going to be a great no spend day.
post #40 of 16710/12/12 at 1:28pmI have been no spend for the past few days, since I started for this month. I am making out the budget for planned expenses right now for this paycheck (we have to do things that way), so that will cover us for the next week.
One nice thing is that my MIL and mom both brought over some food to us yesterday unexpectedly. We got salmon, a turkey breast, chicken breasts, and two pre-cooked meatloaves. We also got some yummy fruits and veggies that will help a lot with supplementing our grocery bill. We shouldn't be spending too much on groceries this week, thankfully.
