True about tofu - I just remember the pediatrician recommending it for ds1... No need for it though.
Thanks Forest!

Tofu is a processed food (and not really a traditional soy product) and I wouldn't expect an infant to digest it-- without extra amino acid at least... maybe anotherfermented soy food, but just tofu is super hard to digest....

Easter is kind of my marker for when A will be eating eggs... funny, huh?

Edit to add: y'all probably know this but honey is a no no not because it is an allergin, but rather it can harbor botulism... and most people can just digest it without a problem but infants under 1 cannot.... orngbiggrin.gif

D has been eating lentils, cooked carrots, beans of all sorts, garlic, onion, cabbage, meat, fruits of all kind, oatmeal...and she loves greek yogurt with maple syrup and banana. Just like what I ate all during her pregnancy.

Pretty much every thing but honey (though I did make a mistake one day and accidently give her some in something I had made!)..Today she enjoyed beans and chicken, crustless quiche, grape juice, and yogurt, and half an avocado.

She has a hearty appetite. She also nursed about 4-5 times too.

does anyone else worry - probably irrationally - about your baby choking? Like, I think a little while back someone posted that their baby loves blueberries - K LOVES them. But.... do I have to take the skin off? He has six teeth. He gums things, mostly. But he is also a really intense eater. He shovels the food in. Seriously. I honestly am still scared about my 4 year old eating popcorn and raw carrots. I am really not sure why I fear choking! It is definitely odd. BUT, I do.
Like, peas. Do I need to take the skin off of those too?
He loves finger foods.
Working on the small motor.

Geeze, Roz I'd hate to give you advice and then have Kai choke. LOL

I am very relaxed this time about choking. No I don't remove the skins from peas or blueberries. I am careful with any crackers.

We are breaking all the food rules. Everett screams blue murder if he doesn't get whatever we're eating, so he's had.... everything. Spices, whole eggs, pasturized honey, etc. We had chicken soup last night with fennel, carrots, celery, onions and garlic and chicken of course. It all cooked together for hours so it was quite soft, but the big pieces I gave him on his highchair tray and the smaller pieces I gave him on a spoon. We had maple-glazed trout for dinner with quinoa and broccoli. I fed him the quinoa and fish crumbled up with a spoon and gave him broccoli florets whole. I had all these plans for slow introduction of foods but it didn't happen.

I think because we started with finger foods (small, soft things- bananas, baked sweet potato sticks, etc) he got used to moving food around in his mouth. He didn't have purees until he was comfortable with finger foods, as weird as that might be! I'm not worried about him choking, he does really well.

I think I'm going to try really hard to relax. Grace you guys eat such yummy dinners smile.gif

Maple glazed trout sounds sooo yummy. Ofcourse my husband would be like - Why'd you add sweet stuff and ruin the fish???

Kind of like Golem when Samwise was baking the potatoes "You're ruiiiiiiiiiiiiining them!"

My husband won't eat fish at all, so I make this for myself and the kids (who pack it back like it's candy! I never have leftovers. That and hoisin/ginger/garlic/soy glazed fish are gone in seconds).

Rozzie- I think I just read your post with my brain engaged- peeling PEAS? It never even crossed my mind. I peeled grapes for awhile because I hate picking them out of the washing machine when I run diapers (ew!), and I half them even now for the choking hazard, but that's about it.

I have taken an infant choking and CPR type course in the past and have done all my first aid/ St. John's Ambulance courses and occasionally refresh with youtube videos. I feel like with a baby having the knowledge that you know exactly what to do can take a lot of the worry out of it.

we don't do purees at all... is there really a point to them? is it easier to digest and actually get some nutrients from them? Astraia, that is what we basically do... but A doesn't really eat that much at all... he will have the veggie we are having, and I try to feed him meet if we are eating it.... he only has one tooth but is good at chewing with the gums. I do plan on ramping up him food in the next month. :D

Edit to add: the fish sounds good!

Is anyone else out there hungry like all the time? I think A nurses a lot still, so maybe that is why, but oh my, am I like constantly hungry. I;ve been exercising quite a bit, so I;ve lost a lot of weight, but eat so much food. ...

I just joined the November 2013 ddc...EDD says Oct 27th but I know I always go late so opted for November.

A huge feeling of, oh I dunno...sadness, maybe? came over me when I went to bookmark the new DDC. I remember LInnie, and Meredith, and well....too many to name really and all of us discovering we were preg and the ups and downs together with our May babes.

I can't imagine another DDC being awesome like this one. I guess I really just bonded with all you net people out there. haha shy.gif

Losing weight...losing weight...losing weight..hmmm..no that doesnt ring any bells. LOL

can't say I've experienced that here! Seriously I'm the biggest I've ever been and if I think about it - I get depressed. But then I realize I'm way more than just a size of clothing or hunk of back fat..I'll lose it all eventually.
