I am about to lose it. I'm STILL bleeding.

I had my daughter August 3rd.

I have never stopped "bleeding" entirely. I've had spaces of like 5 or so days where the discharge goes like that yellowy color, but never stops entirely. And then it turns back to brown, then to red... I haven't HAd a period because my periods are ALWAYS accompanied by cramps that are honest to G-d worse than unmedicated labor.

I'm really getting frustrated and sick of wearing pantyliners. I can't have sex with my husband until it stops (Jewish law ) for seven days. I'm seriously about to lose my #$*(ing mind here. Cuss.gif

What could this be? Should I call my midwife? I swear to G-d, if I need a D&C after a totally natural childbirth I'm going to laugh my @ss off at the irony...

Definitely talk to your midwife, perhaps there is something retained.

Also, have you tried any herbal options to help flush your system?

I have placenta pills and RRT....

You might have a Vitamin K deficiency (helps with clotting).  I was bleeding pretty badly at three weeks and my husband had me start drinking kale and spinach smoothies (you could obviously get this other ways too) and it stopped within a day.  I would definitely talk to your midwife too, but you can try eating more dark leafy greens while you wait for an appointment.  It seriously solved my problem practically overnight.  The more you bleed, the more deficient you become, so it's a painful cycle.  I hope it gets better soon.

You know what's absolutely bizzare? now that you mention greens? I've been CRAVING cooked spinach and kale. LIke, we ordered pizza the other day and I HAD to have spinach on mine or heads were gonna roll....

Alfalfa is great too, I drink alfalfa tea but I've seen capsules out there. It has a ridiculous amount of vitamin K and is also good for milk production.

Yeah, still bleeding off and on here, too. Really annoyed, because I had basically NO really heavy bleeding (other than right after the birth, at the birth center), and it had practically gone away by two weeks... but it keeps coming back. Like one day off, one day on. Except now it's been several days in a row. Not major bleeding at all, just enough to ruin underwear if I don't use some kind of pad. Grrr. My MW also suggested red raspberry leaf. I'm back on my pregnancy tea plus tincture - we'll see if it helps. Been on it for a day, and so far, the answer is no. Just wanted to let you know I feel your pain!

I'm scheduled for an ultrasound to check for "retained product". (sounds so businesslike yeah? ) Thursday.... if there's anything there, I have to get a D&C which I'm alternately freaking out because of my medical phobia or laughing at the irony. The whole REASON I did a natural birth was to avoid surgery....

Oh no! Well, I am right there with you. My stops, and then suddenly out of no where it will start back up again, just spotting, but enough to wear a pantyliner. It is starting to really depress me!!

Hope ours stops soon and you can avoid the ultrasound altogether. I think I will start drinking my infusions again and hope it helps.

Hope it goes well!

Me too. Very light but still there.

For all the ladies that are still having some bleeding, I hope it stops for all of you. Chotchkes, I hope you do not end up needing a D&C.

Well, a couple of days into getting back on my Pregnancy Tea extract (which has RRL, among other things)... I've been blood free for over 48 hours! Here's hoping my luck holds. Chotchkes, I hope you don't have any retained placenta... let us know how it goes! And yes, God has laughed many times at my plans!

Wondering if you ever got over your issue? I finally had my last bleeding episode when DS was about 3 months old. :P

It took about 4 months not to wear thin pantyliners daily

I don't know if this is still an issue for you, but I've been bleeding off and on forever as well. I had an IUD placed at my 6 week pp visit and I've been bleeding/spotting ever since. It's incredibly frustrating. I think I had a week of no bleeding before my IUD. Has anyone else had the same issue with an IUD? I know a bunch of you have Paraguard, but I have Mirena.

I have the Paraguard and haven't had any bleeding at all.  I've heard anecdotally that bleeding was a problem for people I know with the Mirena, but can't say firsthand.

Paraguard here, no bleeding other than a few days of spotting post-insertion (I also got it at my 6wk checkup).  I would check with your doctor if you're still bleeding at this point - I thought the Mirena wasn't supposed to have that side effect.

No BC at all here, but I did have some usual circumstances during the pregnancy which did complicate things and I am sure contributed to it in some way.
