Is anyone from the area? I am planning to move next year and this is one of the regions on my list! I am not going to be in Syracuse, Ithaca or Rochester but a more rural area amongst the lakes. Is public transit non existent in rural regions? Are there decent bike routes or is it safe to cycle on the side of the road? I have a car but prefer alternative transportation. Are there abundant farmers markets and CSAs? At this point any information on the region is appreciated as I am applying to several grad schools and might wind up here for a few years.
