Getting Baby on a Schedule? - Page 2

Eulalie wakes between 8-9 am, is up for an hour and then  goes back down  and naps for 2-3 hours, she wakes up between 12-1:30 we play for about 1-2.5 hours and then she needs another nap, she naps for 2 or so hours and then is up usually until 6 when she naps for about an hour.  (though she typically takes 3 naps a day sometimes she takes 4!) She finally goes to sleep for the night around 8 or 9.  At night, she wakes up around 12am to nurse and then sleeps until 5 or 6am nurses and sleeps until she wakes for the day.

Lily:  Eulalie is older than Piper (born 7/27) and still gets swaddled for all sleep (although she breaks free of her swaddle sometime during the night). We don't keep a tip toe quiet house, but we also don't make tons of noise (we'll wash dishes, talk, etc).  I know some people warn against nursing to sleep, but we do that too.  And... I'm fine with all of it.  I say do what works best.  Follow your intuition.  You know Piper better than any doctor, friend, or expert.  If she needs to be swaddled right now do it!    I've heard lots of advise from many different sources and typically I listen in earnest,  then keep what I like and discard what I don't.  In an age where we can often be bombarded by information I truly believe that at he end of the day, mama know best.  :)

Eulalie's schedule is very, very similar to Quinn's.

Lily, I agree with Sol's and Chanti's sentiment, you know what works best for your child. Heck, it seems like the advice changes every ten years anyways. :/

LillyTiger,  I'd keep doing whatever you need to get her to sleep.  That's what is important, everything else are just some people's suggestions.

What works best for my girl is for her to for a nap 1.5 hours after she last got up, then eat, play, and repeat.  It's amazing how easily she falls asleep if I catch her right at 90 minutes exactly. And while I am usually skeptical of sleep books, I found "The 90 minute Baby Sleep Program" http://www.amazon.com/90-Minute-Baby-Sleep-Program-Natural/dp/0761143114, enormously helpful for clueing me in to the 90 minute cycle (without advocating too much for sleep training or being negative about co-sleeping).  I'm sure like everything it wouldn't work for all babies, but it sure works for us.  That said, while I aim for it, napping every 90 minutes doesn't quite happen on many days where following around her sister or something else intervenes and I happily mix things up including nursing to sleep when necessary. She naps mostly in a sling, but I do also aim  for at least one nap a day in the swing  or swaddled in a bassinet, which again doesn't always happen.

Night she generally sleeps about 9-7, in our bed but swaddled, with feedings at about 3 and 5.30. Unless we did a bad job swaddling her, that is, and then all bets are off, and we have a night like two nights ago where I was up pretty much constantly from 2:30 on, constantly re-swaddling her and rocking her back to sleep only to have her escape and wake up again.  Luckily these nights are the exception, but I'm dreading when they become frequent enough that we have no choice to wean her off the swaddle.
