OH help. Are there any SAFE ways to take care of a migraine?? OB says that Excederin Migraine is OK for the next few weeks and she would write me a script for a NARCOTIC instead?? ergh. 

This is my second two day long headache event in two weeks. I'm over it.  What can I do?

I didnt have migraines but I did have quite terrible headaches each and every day during my first trimester. However, lucky for me I work at a chiropractic office and my doctor actually did what we call ultrasound on my neck which just breaks down the tension and muscles that are tense during these months for us. Well let me tell you....I have never been better! Might not be the same for everyone but I would go with the alternative to narcotics. Good luck mama!

I was having awful headaches and my BIL whose a massage therapist told me to go to a chiro. I did a visit last week, and felt great up until a few days ago... I haven't been able to go back because my week has been so busy, but I will definitely be going back next week. My chiro also did acupuncture, and I think that the combo of treatment was the key. Hope this helps!

chiro and accupuncture!!!  I'd try that BEFORE narcotics.  And you can have him do adjustments on your hips to make birth easier, too!!! :)

I've been having episodes of 2-3 day migraines also (thankfully, the last one was well over a week ago) this time around.

I was (am--got to get my act together and book an appointement!!!) considering going for some massage therapy and see if it helps.  I figure even if it doesn't, it'll at least be a nice hour of relaxation!!!

I had a doozy last week and one starting today. I've never done chiro buy my mw's assisant is a well loved Chiro and I think I'm going to make an appt. with her this week.

I'm just kinda waiting for my first migraine... I normally get at least one every couple months (used to be much more frequent, but seems to have spaced out a little).  I assumed I'd be riddled with them if/when pregnant and am quite surprised I haven't had one yet.  Yet.  I woke up with a headache today, but managed to fall back asleep and when I awoke, it was gone.  My MW does acupuncture (I've never tried it) and I think I'll give that a try if/when I get one.  In the past, I've seen a chiroprator with mixed results.

I used to be on Topomax to help prevent my migraines since they were dailiy. Last pregnancy I obviously was taken off and the migraines came back. I had a high risk doctor and he gave me Firocet. It is for tension headaches, but it would at least take the edge off. I was also taking Tramadol before, but couldn't while pregnant. My doctor also sent me to a neurologist just to make sure there wasn't anything else I could do. He had me start taking magnesium and vitamin D.

Did the magnesium and vitamin d help prevent them? I don't have several hundred to start seeing a chiro and these migraines are so excruciating I'm practically useless to my DD.

It helped from them coming quite as often. I still take it to this day and I do not have them daily as before.

I've had a good handful of migraines with this pregnancy, what works for me is some caffiene and tylenol.  A cup of coffee or more...i'd prefer that to narcotics too.
