yeah, I kind of chuckled at the absoluteness above. I, at one time, said the same thing to the plastic crap and tv, and even asked all family for only natural toys, nothing with batteries, no movies, etc. And now, as I parent a 5.5 year old and an almost 3 year old, their favorite things right now are my little ponies and fairies - which include both all of the plastic crap and netflix. I can't say that I don't know how it happens, because I do- I give in or I get tired so I say yes. I also want them to be able to choose what they play with and be happy about it. They, just like most kids, gravitate towards that stuff! Of course I try to limit everything that gets brought in our house, but man, I will never say never again!
A few weeks ago, I made my first waldorf doll for the girls. I spent over 10 hours working on her and was sure that they would drop everything and love her. So not the case! She's sat with the other toys since then. You just never know until you are in the thick of it. Right now I'm all gung ho on cloth diapering and am ready to go, but who knows- a year from now I might be exhausted and need a break.
