My three year old won't use the potty and she has a nasty yeast infection!

My three year old has not been into the potty for a while now. Recently, my dad died suddenly (they were really close) and my husband and I split up and are getting divorced. (She still sees him all the time, but asks why we 'switched houses') So I thought this is NOT a good time to push potty learning, eventhough most of her friends are using it already. (She turned 3 in July) But now she has a terrible yeast infection on her bum and vulva and Papa is SURE that it's because she shouldn't be in diapers anymore and I think I agree. But, with everything she is adjusting to, I don't know if it's right to 'push' her onto the potty, you know? The last time we saw our Ped. she said that DD should be onto the potty and that was months ago. She is willful, by nature, and I often feel like my life is about trying to balance and judge when to push and when to let it slide. HELP.

If it is yeast it has nothing to do with potty or not. Grown women get yeast all the time. If she is in cloth, diapers or panties, they need to be disinfected or replaced or she will just keep getting reinfected.

Motherlove has a great salve for rash and thrush that might help. Plus plenty of probiotics Also a low sugar diet.

 

We lost my fil a few years ago and our 2yo dd who was close to him took it really hard too. Also we pt pretty early but I expect occasional set backs from them and especially with big changes in their lives. I would work on treating the yeast and helping her deal with life right now and not worry too much on the pt yet.

Some naked time to let her air out and with a potty chair just set out to use if she wants might be helpful too.

If it's actually yeast, it's not from the diapers.  But, if it's a rash, it could be from the diapers.

 

You need to treat the yeast infection though.  You can do it with regular women's yeast medication that you buy in the store, or ask in your health food store for anything they have that will help.  For me, personally, I like the Pearls Yeast kit.  But, I don't think it's something you want to give to a child without learning something about it first.  http://www.amazon.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Pearls-YB-Caps/dp/B001V6O39Q
