midwives in Boone, NC, surrounding areas?

Can anyone recommend a midwife/nurse midwife in the Boone or surrounding area who will support natural birthing options?   I would  prefer a homebirth, but because of some concerns in a previous pregnancy may need to explore other options.  We are moving to the area and my first 2 birthing experiences were wonderfully supportive,and without intervention.I would like the same for my 3rd baby.

I suggest stopping in at Green Mother Goods and inquiring within. It is located on King St. on the corner of the intersection of King St and Blowing Rock rd.

Thanks for your reply.  I may try that.  Not being plugged into the community yet,  it seems hard to find much information, or choices or even how to navigate such a search in this area.  I wonder if that is because of the state policies on homebirths, local politics with the medical community or what?

Homebirth isn't totally legal in NC, which may be why you're running into problems trying to find someone.

I don't know how far you are from Morganton but have you checked out Dr. Hayes? He's back from his 18 months with doctors without borders. He's also a midwife.
