Opinion piece on legalization of CPM in Iowa

I don't frequent this forum, so I don't know if this is appropriate to place in Homebirths, or if it should go in Activism (if so, mods please move it). However an opinion piece was published today by an undergraduate student at The University of Iowa on the dangers of homebirth. I don't know of the validity of any of her statements, so I don't fee qualified to comment on the piece myself. That seems a pretty predictable article for a local paper. But, yes, very interesting and appropriate to share here. Thanks for sharing. I hope Iowa passes the CPM legislation like so many other states have already done!

Funny, none of the midwives I've met go to births without oxygen with delivery systems for both mother and baby on hand. So her specific concern is somewhat invalid in most cases. I do know from MDC some in states where they're allowed to practice but barred from carrying such lifesaving tools who don't bring it though. Besides that complication, yes dangerous things can arise quickly that can't be addressed without or adequately addressed during transfer, but the risks of one place or another just about balance out from what I have seen. Everyone's going to have an opinion on which feels safer, so why not give everyone their own choice?
