Who's stuck with false labor « Back to Group Discussions

I see all these baby's arriving, but I'm stuck trying to figure out whether I'm in real labor or false labor.  Anyone else having trouble with this too?  I'm 4 days past my due date. This morning I woke up with contractions that were close together and painful. I continued to church as usual because yesterday I woke up with the same stuff and it went away. This morning it didn't go away and lasted all morning. We got home, and I laid down. The contractions stopped. When I lay down they seem to stop, but when I sit up, stand up, etc. they are painful and continue coming.  I'm not sure what to do, and this is my 2nd baby.  My DS1 was easy because my water broke as the first sign and 9 hours later he was here.  This one's tough.  What do you think?  I'm open for any suggestions. I worry I won't call my midwife, doula, and sitter on time (midwife has a 2 hour drive & doula/sitter have a 1 hour drive), but then I worry about them coming if it's false labor instead.

It's been a while since you posted so hopefully you have a better idea by now! But you could try a warm bath - contractions often go away in warm water if it's not true labor. They would likely space out though, even if it is real labor. Good luck mama!

That's exactly where I am at! I am planning on only calling once I can't talk through the contractions. Although that will make the actual call difficult! We are only 40 min away though... I would call just to give them a heads up if we were further. I hope you have had or in the process of having your baby by now!
