Hey Ladies-

Don't know where the other thread is, so I figured I could just start a new one-

I think just about everyone should be half way done, feeling better?

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

How is everyone doing?

Anyone else stalking the Oct. 2012 ddc with all the cute photos of the new babies?

Anything else you want to share!

I am feeling pretty great most of the time.  My pelvis is much more sore this pregnancy than it ever has been.  Running has been challenging, but other than that, I am good.  The heartburn has begun and seems to be ok once I start taking the papaya enzymes.  I have lots of energy and my patience with my girls is getting better too!

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

I actually feel like I am ready for this little one!  I have 0-6 month clothes all washed and put in the drawer.  I got a bunch of cloth diapers for newborns and have my bigger stash all ready.  I am feeling impatient already though.

I have been so excited looking at all the cute little babies.  I am just so excited to meet this little person!

Anything else you want to share!

My girls are so cute talking to the baby all the time, but they are also being such a handful lately.  DD1 is 4 and is really finding her independence and pushing back at everything.  DD2 sees how big sis is acting and is doing the same thing, except as a 2 year old, so just a little bit cuter and funnier.  It has been exhausting.

I think just about everyone should be half way done, feeling better?  Yes, more than half way and feeling much, much better in the MS department, but still a little run down energy wise...maybe that has something to do with fighting off my second cold since September?!

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?  Pretty good!  I got a maternity coat that I hope will work for baby wearing and a Beco Gemini carrier.  That's all I really needed to get for this little one.  I think I also want to find a used wrap carrier and maybe a few extra warm newborn things but otherwise I'm set.  Oh, I also have to strip our cloth diapers.

How is everyone doing? Pretty good other than the nasty cold (I keep having coughing fits with round ligament pain...ouch!) and constant pelvic pain.  I see a chiro regularly that is keeping things stable but I'm a little more sore in the hips and back this time.

Anyone else stalking the Oct. 2012 ddc with all the cute photos of the new babies? No but good idea! smile.gif

Anything else you want to share!  I have an anterior placenta again this time but I feel like this baby moves around a lot more than DD did.  Maybe it's just been a few really active days but it's fun.  I used to worry so much about DD's movement.

I think just about everyone should be half way done, feeling better?

I am feeling pretty awesome,  maybe its just that i expected it to be horrible being pregnant with #4 lol but so far this 2nd trimester is no harder and maybe a little easier than #3 (we don't need to talk about how horrible the first trimester was)  I have energy, feeling more on top of things.. but i am a horrible person if i don't get enough sleep and i do have trouble bending over and getting up in general..

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

direct baby prep has kind of stalled lately, about 6 weeks ago we got all new wood floors in our living room/kitchen and we're waiting on new counters to be installed soon (including a new kitchen sink=baby bath tub!).. we also put in some new cabinets that need to be painted to match the old ones..so i guess all this stuff is fulfilling my nesting urges ;)   ..  i've got most of the baby clothes i want all hanging up in the baby's closet, diapers are in the dresser ready to go (because my youngest is only wearing training pants and underwear so i didn't need the space to store her diapers) - we picked a name - the only thing i need to buy is a swing/bouncer combo, and possibly a crazy expensive rocker or glider.. i want one.. but we aren't going to buy another cheap one (we've totally worn out 3 gliders).. so i'm not sure what we'll do..  we have a rocking recliner in the living room but i'm use to having a chair to nurse/rock baby to sleep in the bedroom..  its just a lot of money..  anyway, the only other major thing i'm thinking of doing is freezing meals, i've never done it before, but we're dealing with a lot of food allergies now so i don't want to have to buy things.. or do a lot of cooking/baking when the baby is tiny..

Anyone else stalking the Oct. 2012 ddc with all the cute photos of the new babies?

no, but i've been stalking my neighbor who just had an october baby! lol .. i'm not sure i am ready for that yet.. whenever i see a tiny baby or read a birth story i just wish it was february and when i don't think about birth/newborns i am a lot happier just being pregnant..

Anything else you want to share

I am having a lot of fun with the kids and the baby- this may seem obvious but i've never had a pregnancy with so many little people excited about it! last time my DD was pretty excited (she was 4) but my DS (then 2) didn'get get it at all, my 2 yr old DD is sooo into it though, she sees my belly and says 'baby in there!' and when she sees baby things she says they are "baby benty's" (Baby will be named Benton, we've been calling him Bentlee, for Benton Lee - family names, though i don't think Lee will actually end up in his name.. oh well) 2 yr old DD also likes to call  the baby "Lego" because my dad once joked that would be his name..

other things.  i am kind of worried about my weight for the first time, gaining super fast.. (23lbs in the past 11 weeks) not sure what to think about that ..

i was going to say something else and i completely forgot what it was.. . hmm

I'm feeling alright, besides trying to fight off a cold. It's getting better so far. I am getting a lot of back pain and leg pains, but that's pretty normal for me during pregnancy.

Oh, and I need more sleep. My 1yo is waking up in the wee hours every morning and having trouble going back to sleep.

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

I pretty much have everything... though if we find out for absolute certain the end of this month that it's twins, I'll need to get another car seat, more diaper covers and maybe a twin nursing pillow. (Do you know where to find an affordable one?)   :)

How is everyone doing?

Enjoying autumn... getting through butchering up our chickens and ducks and canning all the meat and broth. It's so nice to see all the food building up on the cellar shelves! Now, if my husband could just get a deer, that be even better. Looking forward to processing the grass fed steer we'll be getting in a month or two.

Anyone else stalking the Oct. 2012 ddc with all the cute photos of the new babies?

I'll have to do that.

Anything else you want to share!

I've had emotional boys lately, which is a bad mix with a pregnant mommy. I'm working on being patient and trying to keep the days in order. Monday should get the home school week started off nicely. Sometimes the weekends just get daily order all mixed up and everyone gets out of whack. :)

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do? I don't really have much to do, I have mostly everything I need.. I do need to get a bassinet and DH wants to wait till closer to the end. Soon here I'll start gathering all my birth supplies.

How is everyone doing? I'm tired all the time, but doing pretty well. 22+2 now!

Anyone else stalking the Oct. 2012 ddc with all the cute photos of the new babies? No, but that's a good idea, haha!

Anything else you want to share! As more time goes on, I'm becoming more convinced that there's only one in there (Although I'm now measuring at 29 cm, weird) and I'm putting that to rest in my mind and trying to relax.

I just went through my present closet and grabbed all the boys clothes out of it.....for ME!!!! We are having a boy, so I'm going to use the stash I have collected.

I think just about everyone should be half way done, feeling better?

in some ways yes, less zitty, and happy to be showing.  but in some ways, not.  starting to get some of the extra water weight in my face and hands and feeling very tired and hormonal lately.  hot flashes at night, weird appetite jumps and losses (sometimes i don't want to eat at all and have to make myself), always hot, and just tired.....  feeling really cute and round and just loving my husband's crazy affection for my not quite awkward body- he's been really great about telling me daily how beautiful and lovely i am, and also giving me loads of physical affection (back massages, foot massages, shoulder massages, petting my hair) in the evenings when we're hanging out together.  that makes me so happy.  he jokes that i'm a giant cat.  i don't mind, as long as he keeps petting me.

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

not preparing at all yet.  i have a couple of onesies, little newborn suits and cotton blankets washed and in a drawer, but that's about it.  i won't know gender til birth, and will probably wash and sort out a few more little outfits soon.  have a boppy, have a sling, have boobs, so pretty much set except for clothes, but usually that doesn't take me long and i stay in bed and snuggle for the first week anyways...  also my midwife brings most everything- but i will have to set up a birth room.  usually i do that the day of labor.

How is everyone doing?

tired- my kids are waking up early, and not sleeping through the night well, and i just can't seem to get enough sleep.  that said, we have had house guests for the last 2 nights, and baseball, and a stomach flu this week, so i'm probably going to be fine in a few days, but right now.... ugggghhhhhh!!!

Anyone else stalking the Oct. 2012 ddc with all the cute photos of the new babies?

nope!  lol- though it sounds fun, most of my friends across the country have had babies, so that is what facebook is for- stalking babies!  and the friends who don't have relatively new babies are pregnant- so spending a lot of time talking through pregnancy things with friends.

Anything else you want to share!

my almost 3 year old has been a living hollering tantrum throwing terror for the last 2-3 weeks.  she cries and fusses and whines about everything from the time she wakes up until naptime.  and then after naptme it starts again.  she's a living grumpy terror and there is no solving her sorrows.  i'm very very very frustrated with her.  my 18 month old learned NO.  and yells it at me and everyone else (i wonder how she learned it?  no older siblings ever yelled "NO" at her....) about anything she doesn't agree upon.  that started yesterday.

baking like a fiend this week- almond flour butternut squash bread, almond flour carrot cake, quinoa cake, almond flour scones.  and hungry for wings and chicken every day.  but we have beef from our farm, i just don't want beef!  ah, cravings.

Chloe'sMama--thanks for starting the check-in!

Feeling better but also feeling like with my twin pregnancy, I was cheated out of the magical 2nd trimester everyone promised I'd have...really didn't start feeling good until about 19 weeks, and even now I usually still have one pretty bad day per week. I do not have the surge of energy I'd expected but am not quite as tired as 1st tri...except on certain days.

What I am happy about is being able to exercise again, although at a very modified pace. Currently doing prenatal yoga class once a week, light weights workout 1-2x/week, swim 1x/week and a pilates-like video 1-2x/week. Yesterday I went on a stationary bike for a whole 20 minutes at level 3 (out of 20). I am unable to do walking as exercise, which is very frustrating--I just get really lightheaded, overheated and feel like I'm going to throw up. This makes it sound like I exercise every day. I don't. In my mind what I've listed above are my weekly goals, but if I just do something 3-4x/week I'm learning to be happy with that.

Preparations are good! Purchased cribs this weekend, just waiting for them to ship to our house. Went out clothes shopping w/ my mom for some stuff but am also waiting until after my showers in Nov/first week of Dec to see what I still need. Anything else will probably be purchased online during after-Xmas sales.

Not stalking Oct. 2012 DDC, but looking at Facebook way too often...I have several friends/family members who have newborns up to about 6 months and are posting lots of cute pics!

Had my latest OB appt on Friday w/ a new OB in the practice and she was very calming. Apparently even though twin pregnancy puts me in the "high risk" category in terms of having more appts, there is nothing that has come up that is even slightly risky at this point, so I'm feeling good on that note. Weight gain is right on, etc.

Maybe hedging on TMI, but constipation FINALLY stopped. Probably because I don't have to take Zofran daily anymore. What a relief. On so many levels.

Now just trying to work out maternity leave details at work, which is kind of stressful. I am able to take a lot of time, but wish I could nail things down a bit more. Again, just more complications of a twin pregnancy as my "due date" is just not so spot-on. HOPING to make it to 38 weeks (my dr. induces between 38 & 39 weeks as a general rule w/ twins) but I have talked to so many people that deliver earlier that I'm just trying to be as flexible as possible. But where that gets weird is telling people I'll be off work, you know, sometime between late December and Feb. 1, depending on how long I feel comfortable!

Okay, I think that's enough updating for me :)

as far as pregnancy goes, i feel great. belly is getting bigger and pops out of my shirts. baby is doing kickboxing in my belly, i love feeling her in there.

i feel awful right now, just because i've been visiting family for a week and they all have colds and no courtesy to stay the hell away from me. i'm miserable, hormonal, and just lay in bed all day coming out to eat and pee. i cannot wait to see my fiance and be home again this weekend.

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

got some basic onesies and swaddles, and odds and ends. no big things yet like car seat, stroller, high chair, crib, etc. frustrated about it but nothing i can do right now but wait. my fiance and i will take a baby shopping trip and get it all done in one day. i also called off my baby shower since my mom is trying to make it about her and a family gathering full of people i don't know or want to be around. too much stress for me and i'm just very angry with her.

How is everyone doing?

i like seeing how all the other mamas are progressing as we pass our halfway point. i feel like we're all emotional to an extent, so it's comforting to know i'm not alone.

I think just about everyone should be half way done, feeling better?

Eh, a little better. I've got about 15 weeks left to go until our induction date, and considering how stretched my belly is, I am terrified about how much bigger Im going to be. The heartburn is in full gear. None of my normal herbal remedies are working, and neither are OTC medicines. Im having heartburn drinking water! Boo. Hopefully it will pass soon. Im running out of room for food. I have to eat small amounts at a time.

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

Starting to freak out a little. We still have a wall to build in our house, a room to paint, and all of our house worth of furniture to shuffle around. Im sure it will be fine, but I hate stuff not being ready. My shower is saturday, and after that Im going to buy whatever else I need to buy to get ready.

How is everyone doing?

Ok, I suppose. Im exhausted and just want to lay around, but Im trying to get outside as much as possible while the weather is still nice.

I am 24 weeks today! I cannot believe I only have ~16 weeks left! That feels so short to me! Didn't we JUST find out we were pregnant!!?? Feeling much better morning sickness-wise, but still having a lot of food aversions.. thankful for my pregnancy tea to fill in the nutritional gaps! I am already very uncomfortable, and having a bit of pelvic/pubic/butt/hip pain. But so thankful that I have a decent amount of energy and to be able to do normal things again!!

We haven't done the first thing to get ready for this LO. We have a few house projects underway that need to be done before we set up the "nursery".. once that is done I will bring down all the baby clothes, etc. I am looking forward to going through all of Liam and Ian's tiny baby clothes! I plan on buying a booster seat for my 4 year old and giving the baby his carseat, and other than that I just want to buy a small/travel swing and a ring sling or wrap of some sort. So there really isn't a WHOLE lot to do, which is the nice thing about having a 3rd boy!! :)

Doing pretty well, other than all of the pregnancy discomforts. I am getting really excited to meet this baby.. a little nervous about how DS2 will react to a new baby in the house (he LOVES babies, but is very attached to me!)....

I haven't looked at the photos, but I did get to hold a newborn baby girl for 20+ minutes the other day! A friend of mine from church had her 5th and we went over and brought them dinner.. that squishy sweet baby just made me want to hold my baby NOW! ;)

I just wanted to recommend this carseat.  It is a 5 pt. harness for a LONG time.  My nephew (rather short and small 8 year old) is still in the 5 pt and will be for quite a while.  DD1 is in it and we have a LONG time till we will need to switch her (just checked and it is approved to harness to 85 lbs, WOW!!!).

Just saw it on amazon for a little over $200.  I will eventually get one for DD2 too.

the seat he has lasts to 65 pounds (it is a TrueFit), he is 45 lbs now. I was under the impression 4 and 40 lbs was the rec for boosters? if we do anything else it will be buying a new (cosco scenara- what DS2 has, or another truefit) convertible seat for DS3. The Truefit was around $125 and the Scenara was only about $40

Catie - The main thing with booster recommendations to really get the same level of safety as a 5pt harness you have to base it on maturity not age and weight .. most 4 yr olds aren't ready to sit still the entire ride, keep the belt in the proper position all the time, and never fall asleep in the car, that sort of thing..   my (pretty tall-for-her-age) 6.5 yr old is still in a frontier because i don't feel her impulse control is good enough and i'm afraid she wouldn't sit still for car rides in a booster...   my 4 yr old, there is no way  - but only you can make that decision for your child!    I'd like to move my oldest to a booster, and turn my 2 yr old FFing so she can be in the back row of the van so i won't have 2 RFing seats on the bucket seats in my van making it very difficult for the other 2 kids to get to the back.. but at the same time, i don't want to move anyone from their current seats since they are the safest arrangement and everyone is happy and still fits..  i hate figuring out carseat stuff!

Thread Starter

Also, there is really no reason to move them out of the 5 pt until you have to.  It is MUCH safer and the only benefit of the booster is that it is easier for the parents, because the kids can do it themselves.

Rear facing is the safest and is recommended until the limit of the car sear (my LARGE kids stay RF until 3 at least), then 5 pt harness is the next safest, then when all limits have been met, the booster is the least safe.... it actually doesn't really provide any safety, it just helps the seat belt remain in the correct position on the child.

Just some info for those trying to choose what car seats to get.  There is lots of info in the family safety forum.

I think just about everyone should be half way done, feeling better?

I feel pretty good for the most part!  I have the rare icky day, and occasional vagal nerve issue which makes me feel sick and like passing out (but I haven't yet),  and some hip/pelvic pain and stiffness but those are my only complaints really so I feel lucky.

How is the preparation for your LO coming?  What have you done?  What do you still have to do?

  • We've sourced out quite a few used items and some clothing (now that we know it's a girl), so we just need to gather it all together and figure out what we still need.  Plan to do that in the next week or two.
  • We have a bathroom that needs gutted and new drywall and that has to be done before we set up the baby's room, so that part is on hold for another month or two.  In the meantime the rest of the house needs some MAJOR organization!!  We have two large dogs and a not so large house smile.gif
  • We are taking a childbirth education class this coming weekend at a holistic/natural minded clinic so I'm excited about that.  I also signed up for a babywearing class.  And I still have a bunch of books to get through!
  • AND I need to look at and reserve a birthing tub and think about how I want to set things up for the home birth area.
  • Lots to do still - probably there is more that I am forgetting!

this thread just made me want to stalk the belly bump thread in october to see how large we will be oh-so-soon.....

thanks mamas for all the carseat info! it has been awhile since we looked into the seats!! we mainly wanted a booster for DS1 because we are always switching him to different cars (going with Daddy to run an errand, etc) and his carseat is a PAIN to switch. Maybe we will just get a booster as an extra seat for Daddy's car, and get DS3 a new convertible seat. I love the TrueFit!

I'm feeling mostly good these days. My heartburn has started to kick in and that's no fun... but I'll take it over all-day nausea! I'm also feeling incredibly tired. Like, moreso that I "should be" in my mind so I might get my thyroid tested this week as hypo runs in my family, especially during pregnancy.

We've hardly done anything to prepare for this babe. I have tons of baby clothes already, so I just need to sort and wash. And we also need to suck it up and plunk down some cash on a carseat, boppy and a sling (will later get an ergo).

If any ladies are interested, I made a divine belly butter last week and could share the recipe. It's really easy if you can make a double boiler and have a mixer. I used shea and kokum for the hard butters and coconut, sweet almond, apricot kernal, hemp seed and avocado oils. I added essential oils of lavender, helichysum, carrot seed, rose geranmium and clary sage, which all have good skin helping qualities.

As for carseats, we didn't move my older son into a booster until he was almost 6. If we keep our current car we'll have to find a slim-fitting convertible seat for the baby and have both boys in boosters. My 4 yr old is more than tall enough for one, but he's also really squirmy so it makes me nervous.
